day 16 - Compass

>using blender to make hiper realistic images vs using blender to make images that look like shitty hand drawings.

@Inginsub woah that looks like an interesting game, didn't knew about it.

@hideki I actually thought that your scene was inspired by it

@LukeAlmighty I guess actually drawing something would have been a lot faster haha

@hideki @LukeAlmighty Have you tried making outlines with greasepencil instead of freestyle? If not, you should, it's a cool alternative.

@MrNobody @LukeAlmighty I have not in fact touched anything related to grease pencil, maybe i should look up a tutorial or something

@ademan

Thanks man. This year i've been getting out of my comfort zone a lot and i've been doing things that normally i won't dare to make when i have more time, i wonder why?

@hideki If I had to guess, you probably feel safer taking risks because

if you’re not happy working on it, you won’t waste more than a day on it
if you’re not happy with the result you can blame time constraints

whatever reason though, it seems like it’s been working!

P.S. Have you heard the story of “pottery by weight”? https://excellentjourney.net/2015/03/04/art-fear-the-ceramics-class-and-quantity-before-quality/

It’s probably a made up story but I think there’s a decent lesson in it.

@ademan Thanks, i read it and yes i think that's what's happening. I am so set on doing "big and epic" scenes with lots of stuff and sometimes instead to trying to do new things i just go to the safe side and try to craft something "better" instead of something "new".

Maybe after inktober i change this and will try to at least do things that i can manage in just a week instead of bigger stuff.

@hideki no way nooooooooooooooooooo fucking way dude nooooooooo me niego a creerlo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

demasiado bueno, te la comiste loco, esta buenisimo, te juro que pense que era un dibujo

@waifu Perdon, quise decir que si no has posteado mas spooktobers

@chuculate @hideki maybe you're thinking about madworld for the Wii, I remember playing it, I liked it
@hideki how did you accomplish that? Did you make the 3d graphics then use a filter?

@NEETzsche No, basically you have to control the threshold between the light and shadows on the material to switch between one texture or the other. Everything is done in real time so you can control the rotation of light, for example, and the material reacts accordinly.
