I've been more interested in other mediums besides cartoons, and I think I know why. While there are plenty of adults interested, I have seen common patterns - obligatory cartoon avatar, sperging out over a terrible adult-oriented or a "mean spirited" animated series (or related news), criticism and shitposting unwelcome, support for the LGBBQXYZBLM and other current things, and much, much, more. Obviously, it's widespread to other hobbies, but there aren't much animators that are deliberately countering to this. Even comic artists are getting away from the Big Two companies thanks to Comicsgate (grifting aside). I'm not sure why, but maybe it's the tedious process of animation itself overall. You'd have to be as crazy as those furfags to craft even an animated short film. No wonder outsourcing is commonplace. On the bright side, the tools needed to make your own cartoons is completely free. If only the animation production pipeline process is freely available for learning; a web search is not gonna help. There are also potential techniques from anime productions that could carry over to making cartoons, but I'm still not familiar enough with their processes and standards. At least there's plenty of info on it available, thankfully.
