A couple of more shots from this Sunday morning's birding along the Sacramento River. A Cedar Waxwing and a Bewick's Wren.

@Merc also it still feels like you're a defense attorney in that game rather than a prosecutor, so it just felt like a meh version of the main series

People who want to learn a skill always seem to say: "I don't want anyone to know until I'm good at it. I'll practise quietly in private, and then I'll come out and really impress everybody." People who say this never learn a single thing.

Join the experts while you are still completely clumsy. Don't be ashamed when they mock you and laugh at you. Keep calm and keep practising. Even if you have no natural talent, as long as you don't get stuck and don't get sloppy, the years will carry you past the gifted people who don't practise. In the end you reach the level of a master. You gain authority, people respect you, and you make a name that nobody else has.

Even the greatest masters in the land were once known as hopeless, and had embarrassing flaws. But now those Newgrounds kids have shows on TV. That is how they became the authorities of their time and teachers to everyone. It is the same in every art.

@creamqueen Maybe... just MAYBE you could be a decent fucking human being?

@binkle @koantig
You can bound the sequence on the right hand side above by the sequence {n+1} (and below by {n}), so now you're just comparing a geometric sequence {x^n} to a basic arithmetic ("linear") sequence. We know it doesn't work for x<=1. If you want x^n <= n+1 for all n with x>1 (a necessary condition), then you'd need logx <= (1/n)log(n+1). The left hand side is fixed positive number (since x>1) and the right hand side has a limit of 0 (use L'hospitals rule).

For complex numbers exponentiation can be visualized with Euler's formula. The length of the vector follows the same pattern as in real numbers, and you multiply the angle by n to rotate it around the origin.

@Loki Now give me a marble Kimika statue with golden scales

@prettygood I liked your pinned posts! (If that's what you're talking about)
