Merit is bigotry.
Yes. The far left actually says that.
Yes. The implications are that whites are superior.

@matrix I'm not sure if this is a troll or serious but I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume it's a troll

@pea
Well. Remember how people got angry that Trump stopped affirmative action? Or the Post-meritocracy manifesto?

@matrix merit is inherently affected by socioeconomic standing and is significantly easier and more possible to obtain with higher socioeconomic standing and depending on the circumstances may even be impossible to obtain (in the way in which Trump is talking about for merit-based admission to the US) in sufficiently poor standing
@matrix you'd have to perform some seriously convoluted thinking to avoid understanding this
@matrix I mean to play devil's advocate, merit based immigration policy is basically designed to keep people out who aren't from countries that have stable systems that provide enough opportunities in order to have merit that is decided by a country in which productivity is everything, so you get people who get in but basically just live like they are still in Mexico or Costa Rica or whatever other country

You can compare this to Japan, in which most of their immigration system is simply how much you culturally understand them, and about integration, much of which they help teach you but the ways to get in are much harder because Japan doesn't really need immigrants in it's economy, where as most of American economy is based on paying less than the living standard

@Majkatsu
In that case it's still not racism or bigotry, because there quite a few countries that fall into that category that aren't white and white countries that are shitholes.

Someone who is educated or/and skilled is probably not going to work under a living wage.

@matrix It's not, but south america is basically the abused housewife of north america, where they frequently fuck it up for economical benefit and then tell them to basically "catch up or die", so to say USA doesn't have an anti-hispanic agenda is a little iffy at best and their entire immigration policy is based around the fact they border them. It might not be because of race, but the line sure is pretty blurred

USA isn't really worried about somalians trying to get in, they're worried about the guys just outside the door who have nothing left to lose because of America's actions

@Majkatsu
Yes. The immigration debate, especially in the US, is economical, so bringing race into is only an distraction.

@matrix @Majkatsu it amounts to "people should exist wherever is most profitable for their masters", it's just slightly more clever / subtle mercantilism, which in itself was just slightly more clever / subtle serfdom

The conflation of economic deregulation with personal freedom is the second greatest lie of the last two hundred years, right behind the frankly audacious "Fascism isn't Socialist"
@matrix Welllll, the thing is that you're half-wrong

America frequently uses racial means to deal with economical problems, including on it's own citizens and within systems that have nothing to do directly with immigration

I'll give you a great example:
The first I left USA to visit my then fiance, I stayed in the UK for 3 months. Before hand, I had told the required authorities I was leaving because this is part of what they ask of you when you are receiving public medical benefits so they are not insuring you when you are not in the country. Standard stuff, sure. My mistake was not telling them where I was going, just that I was leaving for this amount of time and the exact dates, so when I returned they questioned me heavily about why I went to Mexico and if I was with any family etc

The thing is, I never went to Mexico in my entire life, I'm not even MEXICAN anyway, they just assumed I did/was because I have a hispanic surname... I'm an Amercian citizen by birthright and they have no reason to even interrogate me like that, but because it was my word against theirs I was just "lying" and this was grounds to cut me off from getting my insurance

It was only because I actually kept the plane tickets as a keepsake that I was able to fight them on it, and in the end it was just a (((simple mistake))) and the government worker still works there scott-free

Better yet, the next few times I went I was very explicit about where I was going, when, and why, but they ALWAYS came up with that exact excuse to not allow me insurance again and again, which just means that is simply normal procedure to racial profile people (not even by skin, because i'm whiteâ¢) to try and reduce the economical toll of public services

Law enforcement does it, disability/unemployment/public health insurance does it, border control does it, it's just how America trains people to enforce it's will and I have to really wonder how people avoid seeing it...
@Majkatsu @matrix Damn, you completely hid this from me, that's kinda impressive
@Majkatsu @matrix I'm glad we got you out of America.

We'll probably leave England too. May our departure be together and unhindered.

The price of existence is perpetual warfare.
@Majkatsu
Because they don't want to we it/support the behavior
@matrix
@matrix
>he thinks identity politics are left wing

turn off the Fox News and read some Bob Black, grandpa
image.png

@sum
I'm saying they aren't liberal.
What does a shitty TV and an anarchist author have to do with this ?

@matrix ilhan omar is liberal, not far-left
this "shitty tv" would say that ilhan omar is far-left rather than liberal
bob black does a fine job of explaining why idpol is bad for the left

@sum
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. Even if she just does it for attention. Yes. From the point of view of an anarchist, she isn't far left enough.

>bob black does a fine job of explaining why idpol is bad for the left
But saying that idpol being bad for the left doesn't dispute that the left is currently engaging in them quite heavily.

@sum
Bob Black should not be your sole source of information
@matrix
@se7en @matrix but fediverse is full of bookchinites and SJWs
@sum
I'm not saying the fediverse either. It is just you seem to be commonly referencing Bob Black for most political arguments you make while others are just as good, if not superior. I still have yet to read "Anarchy after Leftism" and his collected essays, but of what I have read I say there are more persons. Do not limit yourself to one person, nor prevent yourself from reading the works of those with contradictory viewpoint.
@matrix
@se7en i have a degree in philosophy , definitely agree that it's good to not dogmatically worship anyone. even have evola and friends on my bookshelf !
@sum @se7en
>I have a degree in philosophy

I'm so sorry, my condolences.
@deorsum don't be, i have crappy social skills but now can hold discussions with strangers at parties :-)

@se7en i was trying to agree with you not 1up you... a balanced diet is healthy, critical thinking is wont
@sum
I never intended to make it seem you were talkinging down to me
@deorsum
@sum
Wanna prove that claim you have a degree in philosophy? Is it a doctorate of Philosophy?
@matrix who the fuck thinks to themself "yeah, we need even more to deal with in our country"
@matrix to be perfectly clear i dont give a shit about immigration, i just think we have much bigger fish to fry
@matrix so she is admitting that some groups of people are better than others and by having a system like that would make some groups less likely to have entry.
@matrix I support a pathway that comes in one side and right out the other. It's a nice place to visit, but you can't live here.
@matrix It's even funnier. She's saying that hispanics will be excluded by any merit based immigration policy.
