It's all about delivery and highlighting the motivation. The usual: "do it, cuz I said so" is the problem.

@LukeAlmighty @matrix Very true, especially when the person in question doesn't exactly have a great track record for giving trustworthy advice too.
@Arkana @LukeAlmighty @matrix I think it's mainly that you're a kid when your parents are telling you to do things. Which is also a good part of why they're saying "cuz I said so". Not hard to imagine growing in Jordan Peterson's house, ignoring everything he says, and then somehow having a friendly neighborly relationship with your real parents who blow your mind by saying things like "you know... interior garbage cans are a pretty good idea."
