@matrix You mean like if you have a massive build, like that guy who built a CPU inside of Minecraft?
Follow

@diresock No, I mean in general. I believe ever since 1.13 vanilla started getting quite more demanding. You can see it quite a lot if you try running it on a weak CPU.

@matrix Oh... I didn't know that.
Is it more features?
Draw distance?
Poor optimizations?

@diresock @matrix Java. Bedrock can do all the same stuff (except mods) at a sane FPS

@diresock @matrix Also tbf Java performance skyrockets if you use Optifine but I think it's still behind BR

@applejack @diresock no mods = unplayable tbf
Yeah, Java might play a role too as there seems to have been a performance regression in many cases

@diresock @matrix
It is under microsoft now, so I doubt that more then 5 min of development time goes to optimalization.

They need to censor chat and add microtransactions instead.

BTW, last version before Microsoft is 1.8.1

@diresock I haven't looked into it but it's probably combination of poor optimization and more complex world generation and rendering.
There are mods that boost performance quite significantly so I'm guessing it mainly the former.
Here's 1.7.10 vs 1.13.2 vs 1.19.2 on my Exynos S22

@matrix @diresock 1.7.10 is the only version worth playing anyway since it has all the best mods

@applejack @diresock Not necessarily imho. I would miss a lot of the newer mods like Create.
