@Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz I mean going somewhere, buying things, having fun, throwing caution to the wind...that doesn't sound like a white thing, it sounds like a people thing

@Moon
It wasn't too bad for me, I didn't have access to the internet and learned to code nearly completely through For Dummies books

Although perhaps that did come a bit after the internet, were those around before that?

Programming was really, REALLY hard before the Internet. If you couldn't figure something out, you might just have to give up. I can't count the number of times I've solved a problem because of information on the Internet that I NEVER could have figured out on my own.

I remember trying to program on the C64 and just running into brick walls constantly. I still remember some of the problems, that could have been solved if I had a mentor. In retrospect my parents could have found me a mentor, but nobody thought of it I guess.

It's just the end result of the forms of long-form communication that began with the telephone

:elliotfurious: Get back to work, Pete!
:elliotmanic: You don't tell me what to do, Pete.
:elliotmad: NO BUT I DO
:elliotmanic2: Shit, Pete's here! Hide!

And I just got some info -- a new account followed my new muensterland.social account (SOON to be my Main -- @rgx ) .

And on visiting his/hers profile I found this :

Hey! I'm Ilja! I'm admin and moderator of this instance, cyborg, and general waste of space, but trying to fix the latter. This is a single-user instance running on YUNoHost ( yunohost.org/ ), the most awesome OS for self-hosting and I strongly advise to try it out if you want to self-host. Whether you're a newbie (like I was) or an advanced sysadmin who just wants to get things done.

So -- YUNOHost is a valid, Pleroma friendly host service!

Will add this to an upcoming Blog post.

Weird how some people decry politics mixing with technology, then immediately proceed to make very political choices about technology.

For context, golang.org added a BLM banner causing people to write in that now they need to stop using go. The go language hasn't changed at all, technically. So their decision to stop using it is purely political. But they just said that was bad?
