@rhinocock @Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz Wow, thank you! However, I'm not all too familiar with WATP 😅 what is it?

Great podcast @Lainyboy @realcaseyrollins I was thoroughly entertained. I submitted it to WATP, if they roast it you might get some attention 👀
@lnxw37a2 @realcaseyrollins Also ChatMessages is a huge feature, it's not a small thing like Markdown support. Groups is an absolute Mastodon killer if implemented correctly. People will never look back.
@alex Having said this, I did just hear you on @realcaseyrollins's podcast, and I agree with your statement that themeability and 'site identity' will drive a lot of new growth, both of which are areas Mastodon is lacking.

Hey guys! New episode is out now! It's featuring @Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz, and is an extensive follow-up to our discussion from the previous episode. We cover all kinds of topics in this episode, with clips coming out soon!

But if you like long-form content, here's the full episode:

@Jdogg247 Apparently the gab-nazi meme is so pervasive there are people still clamoring for defederating from Gab even though they defederated from everyone themselves.

Instance block recommendation

@realcaseyrollins @r000t @p@freespeechextremist.com If I understand activitypub correctly, the plan goes as follows: 1. You make an account on every instance with public registrations that has a trigger-happy mod. 2. You follow the account that is going to send this message from every one of those accounts. 3. Make a custom activitypub activity push, that has it's text different for each of the servers it pushes to. The downside is that it wouldn't work for single-user instance blockheads.

@khird I frankly think that needs to be a feature added to all properties, it would be wonderful

Then I could say "hey, sign up on our service and use the same sign in on all our platforms"! Or, I could say "sign up on one of our platforms USING another platform like "!

I feel like this would be ultimate freedom and create a viable alternative to "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with FaceBook"

@realcaseyrollins if QOTO had single sign-on, I think that'd really be all that's needed.

welcome to pleroma! we have:

@djsumdog Very cool! Yeah if you look at the rest of the thread from the original toot, I have a lot of ideas on making a company that could support independent content creators...the real issue would be getting enough donors, and convincing people to pour money into the company in order to fund it. The plan is to not only run instances but also blogs and video platforms. And I wouldn't deem it a success if I can profit off it, but if it's profitable for the actual users and content creators themselves.

I don't have all the pieces of the puzzle figured out. I'm just brainstorming atm.

@djsumdog Yeah, it can really be a battle.

BTW i didn't have time to read the entire article, only to skim it. What was it you were attempting to do independently?

@realcaseyrollins I normally don't like Tim's stuff at all (I generally don't like talking head videos). I can feel where he's going here, but a lot of people can't just quit their jobs. I know I don't have the drive to be self sustainable (trust me, I've tried, twice battlepenguin.com/philosophy/p). I do like this clip and feel his frustration. If I hadn't just signed a new lease in April, I'd probably move to Texas right now and just volunteer on open source stuff.

I won't start actually acting on this plan until I can see proof of sustainability tho
