Spinster announcement! 📣
First of all, I want to sincerely thank this community for all of the support you have shown us. To those OG Spinsters who have been with us for almost a year now - you are the backbone of this community, and the fact that you find value here makes this whole project worth it, no matter what. To the new members who have joined as refugees from Reddit, Twitter, or elsewhere - welcome! I'm honored that Spinster can provide a place for women to speak the truth about our bodies, lives, and oppression.
Due to the growth we've seen on this platform in the past week, we've decided to get ambitious about what this software can offer the Feminist community. So, I'm expanding our funding goal for Spinster to $1,000/month.
Here's what that will provide:
- Continue to find our monthly hosting and protection expenses (already funded, thanks to you!)
- Build new features for Spinster such as Groups, Chat Messaging, and Emoji Reacts! All of this is already being worked on by our tech team, but they are mostly doing it for free right now. Putting more financial resources into building these features means they can focus on Spinster instead of other stuff.
- Move Spinster onto a faster backend service which will help keep up with the massive influx of users and deal with some of the performance issues some users have reported.
If you're able to chip in - we appreciate it! If not, that's okay. Spinster is not going anywhere; we are stronger and more resilient than ever. Thank you for making this possible.
