I want Likes to be invisible in the UI, but somehow the users still understand that they're public record. Impossible design predicament. But that's what happens when you don't control the whole Fediverse.

Like God lives on a planet, Kolob or something. Magic Underwear. Just all sorts of crazy cult stuff. It's pretty toothless though, but had a lot of really crazy racist stuff in it that's kinda pushed to the side these days.

An interesting thing about Soapbox FE is that it intentionally omits Like (& EmojiReact) user lists.

I think that was a good decision. Likes are subtle data that should not be taken too seriously. People Like a post for a variety of reasons. So I think the interface should not place undue emphasis on it. Although Likes are in the public record, and could be viewed by other frontends (not sure what I think about that yet).
