@realcaseyrollins @a7 @aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @LemmyDev @Korsier Both right and left wing on modern liberal democracies are left-wing. Under my definition what divides left-wing and right-wing is different beliefs about the nature of man. Right-wing believes in a natural order of things that doesn’t care about equality. The natural organization of humanity is the family which is hierarchical and doesn’t care about equality, human society grows through or exclusive capability of dividing labor and arguing social norms. Right-wing social orders need adapt to human nature. Left-wing believes in a natural disorder and a materialistic world, humans are blank slates that are conditioned by their mean and can be manipulated, changed or engineered to adjust to new social orders. Human kind need to change and adapt to Left-wing social order.
@realcaseyrollins @LemmyDev Guess you have to use an URL shortener to get around that. But note that most URL shorteners are privacy-abusing in some way.. analytics up the yinyang and many of them are CloudFlared. Exceptionally, there is frama.link.
@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @Korsier @LemmyDev @realcaseyrollins what is left-wing / right-wing? these terminologies are vague and meaningless. If you want to go with modern american extreme ‘progressives’ as extreme left wing you could say they preach whiteness as an original sin and spend half their time belittling and shitting on poor white people, calling them racist, dumb, lazy.. etc. I mean they mostly do it cause its the last group they feel comfortable shitting on. Maybe its just human nature to need some dejected poor group to shit on and its past politics. I’ve been left by women i love for making them a race traitor, ive been told i am a product and tool of rape culture and slavery. Ive been told over and over how i have to repay for the wrongs ive never committed - and who is it normally by? Upper middle class whites and blacks, people who have had easier lives than me, more wealth than me, more opportunities than me - yet im the one that doesnt understand what its like to be poor or discriminated against. I personal consider myself a left wing extremist - but these modern types who create a new caste system and ignore classism disgust me.
There's a trend I've noticed in the past few years. It's tempting when designing new protocols and software (for example, Gemini or Mastodon) to *require* the use of TLS. Privacy is important, and making it non-negotiable in the protocol design is becoming more commonplace.
But TLS is far from perfect. It allows the global certificate authority cabal subvert your privacy, is burdensome over localhost and some LANs, and many overlay networks (Tor, yggdrasil, cjdns) have end-to-end encryption at layer 3, making TLS redundant. Alternative domain name systems also have problems with mandatory TLS.
Perhaps the compromise position is to require that all connections carry *some* level of privacy guarantees. Forcing TLS is a bad idea if you ask me.
@PINE64 @UBports The pink background comes from #LibreOffice on #RaspberryPi and #Manjaro heh heh

@realcaseyrollins @vetharvester That's the fundamental problem with "hate speech". As a concept it's far too open to the bias of the interpreter. In a democratic society, it's very important to be able to say things which are unpopular.
The more I think about it, the more I don't get the point of #fediblock. This is a federated social media network. If you're so sensitive that you can't handle civil but contrary opinions, then what the hec are you doing on federated social media? Just make you own private server and invite only people you agree with. It will be incredibly dull, but safe.
"You need to ban this nazi RIGHT NOW. My proof he's a nazi is that he said we should have police."
"Um... what? I'll need, like, any proof. At all. I'm not taking actions on some random's say-so."
"LITERALLY A NAZI. WAY TO LET YOUR TRUE BIGOTRY SHOW. #FEDIBLOCK"
You need to get your Latuda filled, my dude.
Observation: depending on which #fediverse server you're, this statement may not actually be true despite appearing on the login page of pretty much every Mastodon instance. #fediblock
@realcaseyrollins @vetharvester Personally I'm against banning words because that ignores the context. Better to just restrict speech which incites hatred. That really pisses off the snowflakes though because they're actually big offenders in that regard with their "stale pale male" slogans and so on.
@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo @realcaseyrollins @vetharvester That kind of thing should be in a config file or database that the sysadmin can easily add/remove words, not hardcoded.
I've moved over to @realcaseyrollins for my private account
