What's even worse is that many of them are aware of the Fediverse (including the non-fediblock side), but still hate it. I've even heard rumors that Ethan Ralph was involved in the recent Poast hack, but I can't confirm it because I never payed any attention to him.

Even if it is, it isn't even worth winning, especially when even Jack Dorsey openly admitted that contributing to the centralization of the Internet was a bad idea. Social media should have either never existed or have been decentralized since day one (technically it was if you count the finger protocol as an early form of microblogging, but whatever).

Really the only valid excuse to be on Twitter at this point is if you are a game developer, celebrity, business owner, etc and are solely using it to provide updates, and even then you should still have a proper website, email, and RSS/Atom feed. And those sites should have comment sections like they used to have, so they can interact with their audiences that way.

But of course, cuckservatives, mainstream libertarians, and many on the "dissident right" will never get this. If you bring up mailing lists, RSS feeds, and personal websites, they usually respond saying "this isn't the 90s anymore".

@PurpCat @theorytoe I was always skeptical of Gab. I always knew that decentralization was the better option. I was wondering why almost none of them have heard of Diaspora and the Fedi. Though I wasn't aware of how Eugen wanted to use Mastodon to create a "Nazi-free Twitter", and I didn't take into account how tech-illiterate many right-wingers really are.

To this very day, every time I'm in the car with my Dad and the conservative talk show hosts shill something like Truth Social or Rockfin, I always double facepalm.
