@Tadano @waifu I don't know. I never administrated an imageboard. I just know it's a feature of vichan because Mark used it for vch.

@Tadano @Xenomorph @brimshae Are you at least allowing GamerGate threads on /v/. That seems like the place to discuss current events since nobody is willing to host a /pol/ board anymore.

@Tadano @waifu I think you can limit the number of threads that can be created per a specific amount of time.

Is TWKN on this instance supposed to be absolute garbage or is fedi just getting worse

@hazlin I MISS OLD 8CHAN :eimicry:
Furthermore, I disagree regarding inferiority. They serve different purposes. Threads on fedi tend to be fleeting and harder to keep track of, whereas those on imageboards are more stable and easily archived/kept track of. Barrier to entry is also lower; this has its own benefits and drawbacks but given the obscurity of non-4chan imageboards in the modern day and the disassociation with any dramafaggotry I think I can yield the benefits of building a userbase just from people being able to post quickly.
I understand the bot concern but IMO fedi and imageboards both have it rough on this matter (see: the recent spamwave from those gook skids)

@Tadano @hazlin From what I can tell, Luciano is only on 8chan.moe. I haven't checked zzzchan or any of the other bunkers. So, I don't know if he spread himself out. I would say "ban Tor", but you would probably piss a lot of people off.

Maybe try (regex) filters. He stopped saying "impotent leftist" and is now saying "leftard" instead.

I've heard that blackpill is a phone poster and IP hops by turning on and off airplane mode. This could also explain why range banning doesn't work on him because he can also change physical location and have a completely different IP range. You could try blocking mobile user-agents for that one. But again, this is only a rumor. I don't know if he truly does this.

@Tadano @hazlin That didn't stop people like Luciano and blackpill from IP hopping.

@Tadano Textboards tend to have a completely different culture from imageboards, at least from my experience. They tend to be more laid-back, instead of being hostile and complaining about how cancerous everything is. I'm not aware of any textboard software that supports the webring or has a webring plugin.

And please, for the love of God, don't put it behind Cloudflare, or if you do, at least provide an onion or I2P domain.

Would anyone actually use a textboard if I started one? If not, what about an imageboard? A caveat for the latter is that NSFW lolisho imagery would be banned. I prefer to mitigate the possibility of getting v& by the Leafistani feds for an anon having a Varis moment.

Addendum: My choices of software for text and imageboard respectively are awoo and jschan

@xianc78 @dielan Ensuring your kid is safe nor engaging in idiocy on the computer should have the same procedure as being a sysadmin wrangling normalfags interacting with a Unix-like system. (e.g. no sudo/root escalation privileges, block any pornography/malicious URLs in /etc/hosts, program installation if needed is limited to local installation, no root password login, etc.)

@dielan You also have no control of what their friends would post about them. I had my first name revealed on a chat room I ran years ago, because someone who knew my personally mentioned me by my real name. Granted, it was only my first name, but still.

@dielan Do it. Even if they use pseudonyms, they can post something that could link back to them.

Look at it this way, unless your children are home-schooled your kids MAY end up in a news story on the school newspaper which may end up online, and they often use the kids real names without your permission. Now, while your kids may not actually use their real names online, they might drop hints (like something unique about their school even without giving it away; let's say that the principle's office is literally in the hallway), and people can make searches from their. If enough information is posted, they can pin down the exact school, and even the exact person.

Once, they are on their own, they can do what they want.

@Tadano @dielan I would probably use on of those custom USB-bootable Linux distros that are designed to be an environment for children to use. They usually have a whitelist of websites and programs that are kid friendly.

@dielan How about telling them to never post ANYTHING on the Internet until they're 18?
