>westerners wanted edgy / mature xbox and PS2
I don't understand why you couldn't strike a balance. Looking back on it, only Microsoft went all out on mature games after Blinx failed. Sony, Nintendo, and Sega seemed to strike a balance despite slightly leaning towards one or the other.
>the optical media used did put a lot of restraints on 3rd party dev
They could've done the exact opposite with the optical media and actually make even bigger discs. It is rumored that Sony originally wanted to do it with the PS1, hence the large disc-tray.

@ooignignoktoo @teto @coolboymew I still hate how they used purple as the default color. Personally, I would've had it be purple in Japan and black elsewhere.
@Kerosene At least it's not using the Linux kernel or any of the GNU utilities.
Haiku is also a pretty good OS. I think it's somewhat POSIX compliant, but not fully Unix-like. Best part is that it's an actual desktop OS and not a server/mainframe OS pretending to be one.
@thetruthaddict I hate pesticides, but how many crops would be lost if we ditched them? Are there any viable alternatives?

@PurpCat For the love of God, whatever game you make, your characters better be wearing shoes at all times!
