The chinkpod I ordered finally arrived and it's fine. It plays all my files, it recognizes the tags (but it doesn't display the cover art) and also has support for video, FM radio and Bluetooth (if I ever use that)

Despite the 'non-woke' framing Xlibre was forked under, it's a net good that a fork exists to take in the hundreds of PRs that the original project ignored.
