@cjd @k1tteh Basically, a lot of businesses aren't even aware that it is legal so many if not most businesses won't hire you or do business with you if they are legally required proof of identification.

It's possible to live without a SSN but you need to do a lot of research and find ways to make a living, do banking, and find alternative ways of getting healthcare coverage (or just paying out of pocket).

@cjd @k1tteh People without SSNs are generally locked to doing self-employments jobs or working under the table. Also, you need to find a bank or credit union that accepts other forms of identification such as a passport, but that assumes that you want to store money in a bank in the first place. As for healthcare, you are pretty much locked out of most health insurance providers, but alternatives exist like healthcare sharing ministries. Emergency rooms, by law, are not allowed to deny service if you don't have a SSN.

@djsumdog It's fine for templates, but not the entire website. I like how at least ChatGPT never puts any third-party JS or CSS in the templates. Go to any site offering HTML5 templates, I assure you that 99% of them include third-party JS or CSS from the likes of Google and Meta.

I vibe-coded the HTML layout for the website for my game studio. You may notice that the site uses tables for layout, but that's because I explicitly told it to give it an early 2000s feel.

Is there any particular hardware that you would like to have access to for testing Haiku?

I ask because I come across quite a bit of old hardware in my line of work and could keep my eyes open for anything you are wanting for physical testing.

高校時代に作ったこれ、言い表せない何らかの「魔力」を帯びてると思ってる 今のおれには生み出せない、見る手を惹きつけて高揚させるなんらかの魔力……

@cjd @k1tteh People don't realize that it's possible (and legal) to live without a social security number even though it's extremely difficult. I'm pretty sure the same will be said with digital IDs.

As I'm screwing with a device trying to get wifi working, it occurs to me: Why are we still dutifully setting MAC addresses from flash rather than letting the ethernet card take a random one?

MAC addresses are the fucking Digital ID that everyone keeps railing against, the thing is written in the factory, it's logged in the DB, so it's connected to your identity when you buy the device, then it's being emitted out on any LAN you connect to.

Group can't be A and B because A and B are opposites or otherwise mutually exclusive.

This argument doesn't work because not every identifiable group is perfectly homogenous. X% of doctors can be twisted sadists even if the vast majority are excellent in every way.

@gabriel Great, now we have to show gun store owners bottles of our own piss before buying guns.

It doesn’t have to be this way you know…and the Internet was NEVER meant to be that centralised!

Also, good to know who in crypto was ‘swimming naked’ all along…

And it turns out that there is already an itch.io user with the username "Ioncom". It seems like the person only used it as a username though and never intended to release any games, but it sucks that the username is already taken. Probably should've checked to see if the name was already taken on itch.io before making it my company name.

I could just make my itch.io username "ioncomofficial" or something like that. I'm not changing the name of my company though. I'm too prone to the suck-cost fallacy for that to happen.

And to clarify, "libertarian animal rights" mean that the pet owner can abuse and/or slaughter their own pets because it is their property.
