@enigmatico Not all of them. The ones made by corporations, yes, but actual private ones like Monero are useful for trading outside the white market.

@enigmatico People still call computer cameras "webcams" even though most uses for them don't involve the web.

Also I'd like to point out that there is no such thing as web3.

Or web2.

People likes to call things with weird names and stuff for marketing but the web 2.0 from 15 years ago was the normal web. We just made a bunch of "blogs" and forums and social sites and for whatever reason people called it web 2.0.

NFT and cryptomoney is NOT part of the "web" (which is just a cooler name for the HTTP protocol). Therefore calling it "web3" is wrong even for marketing. Why is it not part of the web? Because people is NOT SUPPOSED TO BROWSE JSON DATA. Its that simple. And the web was NOT meant for this crap.

I'm kinda tired about the modern web tbh. 20 years ago anyone could make their own browser relatively easily. I mean, 20 years ago things like JavaScript and CSS were already a thing, but were more primitive and not so many sites used them yet, as websites were mostly built in Macromedia Flash (yes, it was Macromedia back then) and sites that used HTML were still pretty primitive.

Nowadays nobody thinks about building their own web engine because by the time they are done with at least the bare bones of it, there are 20 new bloated specifications.

So what everyone is doing is to stamp Chromium into a frontend and bloat it with ads and sponsorships and web3 crap to monetize it. Like Brave. And many others.

Unpopular opinion: degrees are a scam.

Not saying higher education is a scam, just degrees. I have three reasons for saying this:

1. Not all four year degrees are equal
2. On average, a bachelor's degree costs 40% of a family's income
2. Academic inflation means the earning potential of a degree is falling while its expenses rise

This doesn't even get into the fact most employers don't care what you study—they just want to ensure whoever they hire is from a certain socio-economic strata.

Big ironies:
1. Alt tech is so anti-big tech, they all use CuckFlare, which is big tech and even more evil than Fakebook.
2. Cryptobro's are so anti-centralization, most of them use CuckFlare, which has already centralized the internet more than Goolag and Amazon could have ever dreamed of.
