I think that's also why Koji Kondo has distance himself from actual music production. Synthesized music seemed to be his specialty given that he's also a programmer.

@ChristiJunior @s8n @noyoushutthefuckupdad That minimalist music is actually common in open-world games. You spend more time in the overworld so you are going to get sick of the same music on loop.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @ChristiJunior @s8n It became a lot more linear and story driven during the transition to 3D. Majora's Mask seems to be the one exception because the story unfolds as you do more sidequests. BoTW was way too empty and had the same 5 enemies throughout the entire overworld.
