@icedquinn Jabascript is the BASIC of our time. More power more horror.

when Djikstra said people who learned BASIC were unsalvageable, what he should have said is people who are webdevs.

BASIC programmers never created these levels of horror.

Linus Torvalds's original Linux announcement was all like "this isn't a big professional project, it's a smol bean hobby kernel" and look where that got him.

The conclusion is that when you announce your projects you should make grandiose claims about them to avoid the same fate.

Reminder to stop watching those “expert reacts to piece of media” vids that are made every 5 seconds they are all not worth watching. Except maybe that one dude who reacts to guns in shooters and shows the REAL gun thats alright.

Subject: What would you like to see most in minix?
Summary: small poll for my new operating system

Hello everybody out there using minix -

I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and
professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. This has been brewing
since april, and is starting to get ready. I'd like any feedback on
things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat
(same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons)
among other things).

I've currently ported bash(1.08) and gcc(1.40), and things seem to work.
This implies that I'll get something practical within a few months, and
I'd like to know what features most people would want. Any suggestions
are welcome, but I won't promise I'll implement them :-)

Linus (torvalds@kruuna.helsinki.fi)

PS. Yes - it's free of any minix code, and it has a multi-threaded fs.
It is NOT protable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never
will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that's all I have :-(.

You don't know what to do when everything is lie.

Did Russia shoot down a Malaysia airliner?

Did someone shoot people in Las Vegas?

Is the vaccine safe?

You don't know.

The government and media can say that there is NSA wiretapping and concentration camps, but you will be called a nutjob if you say it.

[SERIOUS PLS READ] I understand that the point of federation is precisely to avoid making accounts on multiple instances.

The problem is that instances are not 100% connected to each other so you're bound to miss out on posts that fall outside your POV of TWKN from the instance you're on.

The question is: how do you make sure you experience as much of TWKN as possible? Maybe with a minimum number of strategic accounts in different instances which, combined, offer the most complete picture of the fediverse? And, subsequently: is there a way to visualize, perhaps graphically, which instances are connected to which?

Governments couldn't silence speech so they asked big tech to do it for them, governments can't force vaccinations so they asked corporations to make them mandatory... if this isn't fascism then what is?!?
