@rasterman Useful skills that kids can learn but don't teach at schools (or only, optionally teach in high school at a basic level):
* Repairing stuff
* Woodcrafting
* Leathercrafting
* Welding
* Soldering
* Gardening and raising animals
* Hunting (or how to fire a gun)
* Fishing

These skills can be taught at a young age by parents or other mentors and if you are good enough, you can use them to start your own small business. Schools on the other hand either teach you useless shit like history, or stuff that you can easily learn on your own like your own native language or math. In fact, school probably conditions children to hate learning. Children are naturally curious they want to learn, but school makes learning feel like prison.

As more and more people check out of their system eventually we will start to build our own parallel structures. It will probably take quite a while and be full of many embarrassing fuck ups, but ultimately when no one likes or believes in these people it will get easier

Phoronix recently benchmarked the StarFive VisionFive 2 SBC. It's a RISC-V system that is on the cheaper side. I am always happy to see more RISC-V systems regardless of how well they do at the moment. Hopefully more optimizations and work can help it improve down the road.

Linus Tech Tips put out a video where the CEO says some crap, then some Asian woman almost cries and talks about how they're pausing videos (cringe) ... I stopped watching Linus over two years ago and switched almost entirely to GamersNexus for tech news (sometimes Jay 2 Cents, but he's honestly pretty cringe/worthless). Glad I did. LTT/LMG is a dumpster fire.
