@xianc78 This was actually a thing in the 00s too. Local governments, as in city councils, were making laws against UN mandates. You love to see it. :alittletrolling:

With today's pleasant news that Nintendo is releasing a sequel to CD-i's Wand of Gamelon, I found out that a dedicated fan, in 2020, released a remake of the original Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil that run on both Windows and Linux! He took the download links down shortly after as to not offend Nintendo (should've let them up and forced them to acknowledge these games exist). Fortunately, they are archived: https://archive.org/details/FOER-and-WOGR

And then, this fan went on to start his own games company, Seedy Eye Software, where he created a brand new game which may be slightly inspired by those 90s classics, including hiring the Zelda and Link voice actors from those games, as well as some animators. The best part is that it released only a few months ago for multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch! https://www.seedyeyesoftware.com/games/arzette-the-jewel-of-faramore

CD-i Zelda fans are eating well in 2024. :pepe_comfy: :ZeldaGood:

Suppose you had to produce a local computer from scratch, completely independent from existing manufacturers like Intel. (If you need a specific location for this hypothetical, let's say Greater Philadelphia.) No chip fabs in China, Taiwan etc. The tech level and computing power doesn't matter, you can tailor the application to the power of the computer; indie local production is top priority.

What is the best approach? A simple conventional silicon chip? Vacuum tubes? Analog? Mechanical?
