The UK government has just announced plans to introduce extreme ‘electricity rationing’ for all citizens as part of the WEF’s radical ‘Net Zero’ agenda for humanity.

Reminder that 25% of the cost of construction is government regulation and taxes, at least.

Building a deck for a client in the city, we don't even have a permit yet and LOCAL regulations have resulted in ~5% increase in the cost of the build (planned for, but just a reminder that you don't hate bureaucracy and "what's one more regulation going to hurt" legislators enough.)

Neuroscience and invading the human brain as “dual-use” technology? The military complex says, “Well, somebody else is going to do it, so why not us?” What a gaslight!

Big Food reminds us all the time to watch out for mercury in fish, especially pregnant women and infants, but did you know there is 100 times the “warning” amount in multidose influenza vaccines than that in the fish the EPA cautions consumers about?

Server fatigue is real. On platforms like Mastodon, admins sometimes just delete servers, wiping out whole communities

@alex explains how nostr offers a promising future for new communities, eliminating the risk of disappearing servers, in BR079.

@PurpCat @eric @i @sally @sun @toiletpaper I have an old book somewhere from Oracle wherein the first chapter of the book is about the theory of computing, where a program is fundamentally a math function that solves a problem by taking an input and calculating a result. The second chapter was dedicated to understanding your input dataset and how to arrange it in a form that would be best suited to find desired solutions from the dataset.

It would be really cool if we could get back to that, instead of being concerned with shit that doesn't matter like if someone voted for ronald regan, or thinks sex parties are pretty foul.

Even Lunduke is covering the Stallman hit piece:

@drewdevault is such a pussy he didn't even put his name on his hit piece. His credibility in all tech communities is so low it's gotta be approaching absolute zero by now.

How the fuck is this bastard still allowed on Hackernews and I'm banned?!

Now that we know -- with a high level of certainty -- that Drew DeVault is (at least one of) the author(s) of the "Stallman Report"... this comment from DeVault, yesterday, is particularly amusing:

"I've read most of the report" ... "the depth of this report is astonishing". 🤣

I've been working on a website for my game studio. The layout was created via ChatGPT (it's really great at generating HTML5 templates without the modern web bloat).

It was hard to write the about page because I didn't want to be unprofessional and bash other studios, but I wanted to make my point across that we will NEVER include any DRM, telemetry, or live service crap in our games.

Here is a brilliant idea: a website with an interactive map that shows businesses that are known to use facial recognition. As a bonus, have another interactive map that shows businesses that have gone cashless.

There are sites like this already, but they only list big-chains. It would be nice to know about small businesses as well.

>But how do we know if they are using it?

Employees can anonymously report it. If they see CCTV footage in their store's office and there are white squares over peoples heads, then they can report it anonymously.
