The hotel for #Pleromacon2026 has officially been booked from Friday, September 11-- Sunday, September 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia. We will have room to accommodate up to 80 guests (if people don't mind sharing rooms). There will be smoking and non smoking rooms. Ticket price is $30/person including meals and bus between the hotel and airport; $50 if you want your own room.

The venue has 3 conference rooms which gives us ~120 hours of usable time for presentations. The only talks scheduled so far are the keynote presentation, given by me and Lain, and something I'm cooking up called "Into the #indoverse : decentralized social networking in the third world." We could always fill empty time by streaming anime or movies. Bring your hard drives if you'd like to share anything!

Our hotel has not only a restaurant, but also a Cafe and not one but two bars, including a rooftop pool bar. What better way is there to relax than with a nice cold beer in the water. We will also be strategically located nearby some of the world's largest malls, in case you want to scratch that shopping itch.

If you plan on attending, please be mindful of local laws: consider that premarital sex is prohibited, homosexuality is prohibited, pornography is prohibited, promotion of communist ideology risks jail time, and there is death penalty for even small amounts of drugs including cannabis. Modest dress is encouraged but not required for women; Indonesia is largely Muslim.

If you're not giving Blender money but using the software to make money yourself, you should probably STFU

Blender is not a trivial piece of software and it takes a LOT of work to build and maintain.

If everyone who relied on Blender supported them they would have the capacity to reject outside funding based on ~internet vibes~, but when someone's offering to fund your roadmap and get you to the place where you can leapfrog Hollywood's proprietary tooling, you don't say No

umm your literally surveying a population that fills out these questionnaires by making faces with the scantron (ok, not sure if that is something still in use, but while it's dated it's literally what I saw EVERY KID in my 9th grade, so about 14, class doing when required to take a survey to this end in the late 1990s early 2000s). The point is the survey data is likely completely and utterly inaccurate in the first place.

However even if it wasn't there is no evidence to suggest that this is anything other than normal teenage behavior. Hormonal changes, etc. and the implication of the wording of the question is what leads to youth to whatever degree there is anything behind the question to answering yes when there is ZERO evidence of correlation between the two.

One is likely to be depressed, not know the cause, and associate it with their phones when asked such a question about it being the reason for their depression.

Basically there is ZERO scientific accuracy to these surveys and properly done research is EXTREMELY rare.

This reminds me of other "studies" where researchers over decades repeatedly used incarcerated populations. I think it was something like gay men who were incarcerated or something of that nature. Why use incarcerated gay men? Because gay men have been discriminated against for generations and so no non-incarcerated gay man would fill out such a survey. The obvious problem is that you then wrongly conclude all gay men are sick criminals.
