LLM generated code has definitely improved in quality over the past year, but I still think it is very easy to spot when code is not written by a human.

And I'm not talking about the super obvious signs that everyone already knows like the overuse of emdashes and such.

What I'm talking about is that LLM generated code is just really fucking boring...

Surrounding literally everything with null guards, strict type checks everywhere, throwing exceptions for every little minor thing, etc.

I personally love weak comparison. It is fun, feels hacky and it doesn't produce insecure code if you actually know what you're doing.

The LLM has to burn a million tokens to consider every single possible "but what if ..." situation when doing something like this which it will try to avoid.

A good programmer actually familiar with their own codebase will just look at the code and say "no, it wont" and will delete the overly verbose null guard or whatever.

I honestly get more upset when I see unironic Apple shills on my timeline than racist chuds or whatever.

The technology, called SignalTrace, would turn ALPR cameras from devices focused on tracking cars to ones that can more readily track the location of particular people

I think the thing that frustrates me the most about mathematics in school/university was that, to an autist, it *should* be a dream to work with. Everything has procedures and structures and if you did it right there is no opinion needed, you are either correct or incorrect.

And yet it still all falls apart because god forbid you had one bad year of math, the lack of understanding snowballs into later years if you don't catch up. And god forbid you do any sort of REAL math, you're gonna offload it to a computer anyway (every computer in the last 30 years can do all your algebras and calculuses).

People who got all bitchy about teachers/professors giving "partial credit" to math kids for getting the answer wrong but the process right didn't understand that the end result was never the point because nobody is doing this shit by hand. It's understanding how to get there. I did RSA by fucking hand with small primes in later years. Was it practical? Nope. Was the method interesting? Yep. So why bother rewarding only the right answer when the answer itself is useless and the real takeaway from these classes was the knowledge of HOW and not the end result?

@xianc78 haha I noticed this years ago, sample cds stealing samples

So virtually every video game released after the SNES is potentially infringing copyright in some way due to the legal gray area of soundfonts.

Turns out eating the bugs is a genetic inheritance that the enlightenment cultures don't have.

That said, it does seem they got an extra dose of the LIVE IN THE POD gene.

I can't stress how amazing Kagi translate is

It catches puns, cultural context and even shortened anime names. It has the deepL thing of choosing alternative words, but on top of that, it has that suggestion selector to select the "mood" of the message for more alternative translations possible

Funny how suckless software is universally shat on by neverclankers, DeVault orbiters and people generally pushing the linux phones. But somehow if you slap a different name on the same software, add some patches and host it on Sourcehut, it's suddenly kosher.

If there is one good thing to come out of the "AI derangement syndrome", it's that it has completely eclipsed the "cryptocurrency derangement syndrome", and it seems like people won't attack you for accepting crypto payments/donations anymore.
