I’m proud to be an American, where at least I have AC
And I’ll never forget the HVAC guy who installed it there for me…

If you run a Git server accessible from a web interface, you need to block Facebook's crawlers. Eversince I started mirroring the XLibre repos my server has been getting DDoSed fucking constantly by Facebook. We lost Checkpoint when we migrated this year so it got really bad. I finally had enough of it.

meta-externalagent is the worst offender. Thankfully, it listens to robots.txt unlike some other aggressive bots I've had the displeasure of dealing with.

I love how he's so boomer brained he doesn't take into account that people can buy games and then pirate them after to make sure they can preserve digital copies.

Another day, another instance of tech company/organization/individual supporting <political party/cause that is not far-left>, we need to cancel them.

@lostgen

Mullvad is a political company fighting for free speech, free information and privacy, with two equal co-founders, co-owners and co-CEOs who fundamentally disagree on many issues. Daniel's donation to a political party is private and not part of Mullvad's mission. We protect the right to express and access views we disagree with. We welcome anyone sharing these core values, whatever their other opinions. We are happy to refund others who don't, where we can.

Does anyone know of any multi-purpose microblogging clients? Like something that supports a wide array of microblogging services and APIs. It would be really nice to manage all of your accounts from multiple networks/services in one place and maybe be able to make a post and have it instantly appear on your Twitter, Mastodon, Nostr, BlueSky, Gab, Minds, etc at once.

Prominent US war hawk John Bolton has pled guilty to violating the Espionage Act after previously demanding execution for whistleblowers Edward Snowden & Chelsea Manning and 176 years in prison for publisher Julian Assange.

As part of a plea agreement, Bolton admitted to unlawfully retaining sensitive national security information. He now faces up to 5 years in prison, up to 3 years of supervised release, a $2.25 million fine, forfeiture of his pension, and is due to be sentenced on 28 October.

In 1996, Nintendo was seemingly very fond of a single particular stock photo of the sky, so that it ended up on the cartridge artwork of three different games released in that year: Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and Pilotwings 64.

@ChristiJunior @teto The Valve/GabeN complex is not a good guy, but it's necessary to keep Microsoft in line otherwise it would have killed gaming on Winblows first, then forced a Windows-only policy to motherboard manufacturers later (SecureBoot lockdown, basically)

With its approach, Valve creates an hardware market for consumer-grade PC equipment that is not expected to rely on Windows, and that can ease the mind of normies to the concept there's more to PCs than Windows

2008 was an inflection point for EVERYTHING.
All of the gender bullshit emerged post-08

It was a mode-switch same as 1971: https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/

The left is people pretending they're not heartless.

It was ALWAYS a tax. The fact that the age for eligibility was set higher than the average age of death in the 40s when social security became a thing is proof that it was just a cash grab by a crippled communist.

"Age verification" should be called by its real name: ID verification—a new form of mass surveillance.

Parents already have effective tools to protect their children online: parental controls, screen time limits, or no device at all.

More surveillance won’t fix social media’s harms. Instead, let’s hold big tech accountable for the toxic algorithms fueling addiction, manipulation, outrage, and polarization.

No wonder forums have all but died. Jannies are much more damaging to a forum than to a social network service.

Line in the video: "you agreed to that when you bought the car"

Be careful what you enable with your spending.

We vote with our dollars nearly every day. If we don't like these kinds of things, people in general have to stop supporting it with money.

Some people don't care... but in order for positive change to happen just enough people have to care to do something about it and stop funding practices like this.
