I worry that ordinary people are treating technology more and more like magic, not giving any thought to the massive conglomerates doing all sorts of nonsense behind the scenes, and not understanding that it doesn't have to be like this. Computers aren't magic, they bleed, they can be destroyed!

Modifying the word of Terry is more than just "cleaning up comments". Every line of the canonical TempleOS release is Terry. He speaks to you through his documentation, his code, and his comments. The +NIGGER license was created to protect the word of Terry. Terry would have been banned from this subleddit. After his death people want to create revisionist history. They want to separate Terry from his schizophrenia, from his language, but they cannot be separated. Without Terry's schizophrenia or whatever else TempleOS would simply not exist.

Nevermind Terry's intent with TempleOS was a platform for people to make games close to the hardware, like a modern C64. The phrase "make games, don't play them" is littered throughout. Meanwhile most people just want to fuck around with random OS stuff. Alec Murphy is the only real TempleOS dev worth mentioning. Not even ZealOS is all that interesting. Alec Murphy was able to integrated AC97 and SVGA graphics on top of TempleOS without touching the system code.
