I mean, traps have always been a thing. A lot of gay men skew feminine, and there's a lot of crossover between feminine gay men and trans women that are attracted to men
What's in between those two? Probably a feminine gay man that presents as a woman but doesn't consider himself one, i.e. a trap.

Less short answer: the kind that hates their biological gender but also thinks SRS is a glorified band-aid for a mental disorder which won't actually help them whatsoever and refuses to transition because of that. The kind that formerly identified as "transgender" but got ostracized from pretty much every LGBT community they tried interacting with for "internalized transphobia", attempted to convince themselves they were actually cis all along, then had a breakdown and realized that actually everything's a fucking nightmare and they have no idea what they are anymore, so they slap a "nonbinary" label on themselves in the hope that maybe it'll help them figure out what they are.

They're becoming way more common as a result of this new environment that makes it way too easy for GNC kids to get pushed onto a pathway to transition (which may include SRS but might have stopped at hormones or puberty blockers). I wish I could give specific recommendations, but I'm not suffering from any gender dysphoria and the few detrans people I'm aware of are all formerly FtM. Maybe @MandyJane or @ninapaley knows a few?
@dave @Galena @Eidolon0 @matrix Well there is a whole lot at play, yeah ok. Mainly we've got a problem with the whole "tucute" thing were the SJW-types say you don't need gender dysphoria to be trans. Well obviously that's dumb. But they've applied all sorts of pressure, gotten doctors fired for not agreeing etc. So the proper testing for G/D doesn't always get done.
That's what really going on, as soon as the process of proper diagnosis got screwed up stuff like this happened. The doctors aren't allowed to refuse treatment, then people blame them for "pushing" it on them.
I'm trying to think of some never an SJW detrans people, I really don't know most of their journeys. Like I don't know if they bought into SJW stuff in the past, but I'm pretty sure most of them don't now. I don't think Watson was ever an SJW, she is really pretty fucking cool. Lots of momentum from the current trans "rights" movement carries over from the same people that were pushing for gay marriage.
There's also a lot less resistance because the conservatives that would typically oppose this stuff more strongly have realized they dropped the ball on gay marriage and are trying to avoid making the same mistake and ending up on "the wrong side of history".

I knew a few cool people on Twitter that were either Gay or Bi. The openly (but only moderately) Conservative gay guy eventually got banned. Really hoping he discovers the greater Fediverse eventually, because he had mastered the art of snark, and would have a lot more fun on social media were it not for the SJW policies.
