@LukeAlmighty every time I see how much bitcoin is i remember when I saw some bitcoin software installed on my friend's dad's pc back in like 2012 and he had a few dozen on there. He's not rich as hell now so I always wonder what he ended up doing with btc and how upset he is about it xD

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty People who treat it as an investment are idiots. It's still useful for funding services and content creators that have been deplatformed by payment processors. Anonymous crypto-currencies like Monero are still used in the black and gray markets.

@xianc78 @beardalaxy
> People who treat it as an investment are idiots

Thanks, but I have to disagree here slightly.

People, who do any kind of speculative trading without proper education are idiots.

@LukeAlmighty @beardalaxy Best way to trade it is in person in exchange for cash. That way, you can avoid KYC cancer.

@LukeAlmighty @beardalaxy

Coinsmart is what I use in Canada, I think most Americans use Coinbase.

@Nidoking
This is the lowest it was in a while. I would recommend waiting for about 1 week without any news article, and then sell after it doubles. (Do not try to catch the peak)

@Nidoking
And never bet what you can't afford to lose.

Stock market is the "bigger fool" game. Never forget, that all the money you make in trading paper is money someone else had lost.

@Kagekokoro
I talksed to co-workers who were inironically buying lego as an investment and explaining to me how smart it was...

-_-

@LukeAlmighty depends on the set, but with many niche products there is the chance of it gaining value over time, since its a finite product...
just look at the boom that the pokemon cartridges experienced a year ago
@LukeAlmighty I mean, i dont relate to those weird investments, i dont like any investments at all, but such is the world we live in
and at least with lego you have something tangible, unlike with NFTs

@Kagekokoro With lego, you have a toy that you won't even let your kids play with...

@LukeAlmighty yeah, but at least you have something physical and you will eventually grow up and let your kids play with it

@Kagekokoro
And the scarcity of toys is dying.
3D printers are a thing you can buy now. Lego is 1 dumb program away from getting hit ridiculously hard.

@LukeAlmighty the brand is what gives the product the value, nobody is gonna pay lots for a 3d printed replica, i do get your point though

@Kagekokoro
> nobody is gonna pay
They won't have to...

And yes, I know, that there is always that 1 idiot collector, but selling sets is crazy, since you have to find and pursuate that one idiot.

@LukeAlmighty no persuasion needed, there is always that one crazy sob that collects weird shit
@Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty gameofbricks.eu/blogs/news/all-you-need-to-know-about-lego-and-nfts

Most major companies are going to have them. Nike, Rolex, Gucci etc. There is a real world use case for proof of ownership receipts that cannot be counterfeites by rouge Chinese factory workers.
@Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty Idk there is a lower cost of entry than classic cars. Dont invest more than you can afford to lose
@LukeAlmighty Remember when people were mortgaging their houses to buy it at $60k because IT CAN ONLY GO UP! not even a year ago?

@Ricotta
> mortgaging their houses
Do I even need to say more? Idiots will always act dumb.

I am starting to see, why lending money at interest works so well for big noses.

@Ricotta @LukeAlmighty wellp... its certainly going up seeing that shit is gonna hit the fan very soon, and fans can be installed on ceilings
@LukeAlmighty
I remember the hyperbolic $19,000 peak in winter of 2017. I sold some a few months before that at $5000 and made a few hundred bucks, then it crashed to $8000 in the first few months of 2018 and I panicked and sold more. I still have more than 4 left so I'm not selling until it hits those prices.

Even still, I bought mine in Dec. 2012 at $13 and Summer 2013 at $100 so I have practically nothing to lose.
@LukeAlmighty

I have a sneaky feeling it's going all the way to 11k CAD, since it was stable there for much of 2020.

I'll disclose that outside the small amount I bought at 28k, I decided I'm waiting for more drop before I buy in. Bitcoin is here to stay, but the speculators will fuck with it all the way.
