I just decided that I want to buy Forza 4.
There are 3 editions. What do they offer? I don't know. Will buying the most expansive one contain additional content, or are these a "skip the game" DLCs? I don't know. I don't want to spend next 4 hours looking up forums to lean, what downloadable content is in each version. New maps and events sound good, but do the car packs contain cars I could have earned IN THE GAME? Or even worse, will owning these cars ruin the game? It did happen to me before many times, that DLC that I bought had completelly ruined the early game balance.
@Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
>guy has issue with game A
>offer him a different game from a completely different genre
Sounds reasonable.
@Awoo @Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
He isn't even accurate in his advertisement though. I'm looking now on Steam, and Din's Curse is on sale. Game and expansion for less than 4€.
@Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
Then recommend he buys the old Assetto Corsa, and get more modded cars and tracks than he can count. + he gets to play a decent racing sim.
The Ultimate Edition is on sale now for 8€.
@Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
Unfortunately no. Unless you go the seafaring route. There is a slight downside that the community launcher used for modding was build around assuming Steam, and you need to change a setting for it to work.
@Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
The devs are still around, working on the successor: Assetto Corsa Competizione. But this one has less mod support, and the focus is less on car & track diversity, and more at being an ultimate racing sim for GT3 category.

Even if I took your advice, it still wouldn't help me, because I would have to post:
I just decided that I want to pirate Forza 4.

Do you see the issue?
@MK2boogaloo @Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
The simple version of his predicament is that there are too many versions, and he doesn't know which one offers all the content. A predicament which doesn't necessarily get eliminated just because you pirate. There could still be multiple game versions there too.
@MK2boogaloo @Zerglingman @LukeAlmighty
I've seen edge cases where it's not instantly clear. Though for older games, evolution by gamer selection does seem to take place.
@alyx @Zerglingman
Fallout New Vegas is an amazing game, but noone warns you, that one of the DLCs is nothing but a shitton of weapons straight to your pocket at the begining of the game.
Lego DC supervillains DLC literally unlocks characters that let you skip the usual grinding cycle completelly. After I noticed, I had to start the game from scratch. I had completed New Vegas several times, before I learned I was robbed.
To this day, some GTA V speedrunners are fucked, because they pre-ordered, and now, they cannot disable an illegal money injection at the start of the game.
Do you get it now? @MK2boogaloo
@MK2boogaloo @Zerglingman @alyx
> Well, a simple search would suffice.
> I don't want to spend next 4 hours looking up forums to lean, what downloadable content is in each version.
Almost as if that was the exact point of my original post.
@LukeAlmighty @MK2boogaloo @Zerglingman
I had a look, and the... nautical approach of getting Forza 4 seems to mainly return Forza 4 Ultimate Edition. Don't know if that helps, but it looks like that's what sea enthusiasts prefer.
@LukeAlmighty
?
What happened?
@LukeAlmighty So I'm guessing you dislike modern game purchases process.
