@KonataWagner
Either buy a PC, or Deck if you have a PC already.

I have a many years old 1660, and it still isn't even sweating. Consoles don't offer you the "best experience" as much as "optimized experience", where you don't even see what details are turned off.

Why am I even starting anyway? I know you understand technology enough to know all of that.

@KonataWagner
The problem with these GPU's is, that they are 10 times stronger, then new games actually need. So yes, consoles are cheaper... but only because they are so far behind this, that comparing them to new GPU's is.... comical.

Well yeah, but I wasn't looking at getting an $800 GPU anyway. A PC would still be pricier from when I was looking at parts a few months ago
I actually think the graphical fidelity of the new consoles would be more than enough for me. I think we're reaching a point where games looking better than they do won't add a whole lot to the experience (except for Nintendo of course). But of course there are lots of other advantages of having a PC
@KonataWagner @LukeAlmighty Whats the pointnof a 3k PC when all the games are lazily made shit with ugly shit packed in

@LukeAlmighty It does monetarily make sense though.
PC you can get for a price of a console will perform much worse and if you already have a laptop for school or office work and you just want to play mainstream games. Xbox Series X with a subscription will give you more games than you can manage.

@matrix
Yeah, the game pass bait and switch is getting seriously anoying.

@matrix
Although, I seriously cannot say, that I do understand the value proposition.

@LukeAlmighty The value should be in the ease of access and low entry cost

@LukeAlmighty and unlike previous gen, the current gen hardware is actually fairly decent

@LukeAlmighty i don't think it will push PC gamers back to consoles, but it will certainly help keep some console gamers as console gamers. they think "why would i pay $700 for just one component when i could pay $500 for the whole thing?"

@LukeAlmighty @beardalaxy That's exactly how console owners view them, though. They are a black box that just does the entire thing for you
@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty i did at one point just get a new laptop because it was cheaper than getting a meaningful upgrade to my GPU. :blobcatpain:
@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty well. kinda. i think the lowest meaningful upgrade was around 400$+ or something, with 'really good' upgrades being 800-1000$+, and this unit was on sale.

consoles have been getting in to the whole pro edition shit though which i don't think is good. the contract with console is simplicity but they've voided that ("can i play it? i dunno. i have an xbox one s minus two delta pro, is that good enough?")

@icedquinn @LukeAlmighty a lot of console games are starting to get PC-like settings menus as well, and none of them are cohesive because they all have different console gamer terms for shit. all these different "mode" toggles, sometimes that don't even make sense. it's probably doing more harm to the console gaming market than good, because instead of just focusing on putting out well optimized games they can just chuck the settings menu in there and say "well you're not playing on the performance mode, so that's why your game isn't running as good."

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty that is certainly why valve does it. i haven't had a post-switch console though so i dunno anything about them other than the 2077 disaster was a direct result of the way they're trying to refresh consoles without just formally calling it a new version.

i would honestly just sell them as a new xbox and say its compatible with all the xbox 4 games but this is an xbox 5 now because it completely circumvents the issue.

@icedquinn @LukeAlmighty oh man i wish that the xbox naming scheme was that simple xD it would technically be xbox 4 we're on right now but yeah, there were 3 different versions of the xbox one and now there are two versions of the xbox series. it just gets confusing as fuck. at least ps5 just has a digital and disc version, but all the specs are the same.

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty i'm not sure if microsoft is incompetent or actively malicious when it comes to product names.

@beardalaxy @icedquinn
I gave up on even knowing, what Xbox version is what at this point :D

@beardalaxy @icedquinn
When you have a performance mode, but still cannot turn off motion blur :omegalul:
