Someone should invent dumpsters that you have to pay to open (unless you own it or are the garbage man). That way, stores can still profit off of freegans.

Many people don't carry coins also, so that would require putting a credit card machine on the dumpster, which needs software.

I still see gumball machines.
@xianc78 @beardalaxy That is quite a simple mechanism that merely rotates - there is no hinge to lock in place and also no requirement for there to be some way to operate the mechanism without a coin (it's no good if it's difficult for employees to merely put garbage in a dumpster).
@beardalaxy I'm talking about dumpsters behind stores. Stores throw away food that doesn't meet their standards and that's where freegans get their food.
