no voice acting for a game in quite literally the most profitable media franchise of all time (pokemon) is absolutely fucking braindead insane. how do people keep buying this shit?

these devs seriously think they are still building games for the 3ds

@beardalaxy It wouldn't be so bad, and some may actually prefer a rejection of AAA game dev mentality, if they were priced the same as 3DS games instead of 70 bloody dollars.

@inTrax a rejection of AAA game dev mentality would be to make the game look "bad" or "basic" but make sure it is highly polished and well optimized. this game is... not that. it's just bad. it really looks like an upscaled 3DS game in an emulator.

@inTrax okay maybe not that bad, maybe like upscaled ps2 game in an emulator.

@intrax @beardalaxy Just did some checking, and if you believe the Bureau of Lying Statistics, which you shouldn't, one game, Resident Evil: Revelations was per Brave AI noted to have a high price close to an inflation adjusted $70 price, $50 back then. Looks like normal prices were more like $20-$30, the second installment of Senran Kagura going for the latter.

One of the nastier effects of inflation, the psychological one of "it's not worth that much" even if true inflation means they're about the same, which could be true of $30 dollar games back then.

@beardalaxy why create new assets if you can reuse old ones and people will still buy the final product like hot pancakes despite it being shit
@beardalaxy If they worked out the bugs, fixed the battle system, and populated the world, maybe make some actual outside areas, it would make a fine $30 game.

@beardalaxy
Bruh, be careful. They added 7 grass straws on one lawn. The Switch 2 might explode soon.

@Kagekokoro @beardalaxy pokemon is like if cod simps kept buying the same shit yearly instead of playing another game like they did after BO7 has been the FPS version of Legends Z-A: dialed in garbage rushed for money.

@beardalaxy Voice acting means sacrificing the ability to name your character unless you have a pre-set list of common names or just have people refer to you by second-person pronouns.

@xianc78 @beardalaxy do you really think those are legitimate excuses for not having any VA?
@xianc78 @beardalaxy or by adjectives like agent or fixing your codename (Deus Ex calling you JC Denton)

@beardalaxy It usually gets in the way, in my experience. I can not be arsed to wait for them to speak; I simply read the subtitles and then press A to continue. The obvious exception is if it’s a cute girl voice, of course.
