When someone tells you that NFTs are good because they help artists to be paid for art, and then people try to pass these things as "art"

@hideki
Do you want to know what also helps to pay artists?

@hideki nft? No fucking thanks
I remember there was some scumbags in twitter stealing others art and turning it into nfts

@Loki I saw once someone selling as NFT photos of Kpopers passed through a solarize filter or something like that, beyond cringe.

@fluffy
It's just commodity fetishism. People do not like art. They like the idea of art. The idea of some human creation possessing certain qualities that must be admired by "true" "intellectuals." Herd mentality to the max.

Nothing is "true art." Things can only be considered "true art" by certain ideas of what constitutes as "true art" being enforced by society. Otherwise the expression of "true art" is utterly meaningless and doesn't serve any purpose. It's all just language games, a psychological trickery to make you believe in something which isn't there. "True art" can only exist through the context society gives it, can only exist within society and cannot exist without.

I admit that I haven't looked too hard, but I've yet to see even a single piece of NFT worthy of the word "art". Certainly those monkey things deserve to be burned in an active volcano, together with the "artist" who made them.

@hideki
Well, there's at least one good thing about NFTs: they ensure a mechanism for "survival of the fittest" to still exist. Eventually the completely brain dead will lose everything and eventually be excluded from the gene pool.

@hideki Art is a form of expression. If you have a machine generate images or whatever kind of multimedia content for you, wether it's AI or a simpler algorithm, it's not art. Because you are not expressing anything.
the act of scamming people into buying these worthless urls is the art itself.

@hideki there's also way more plagiarism in NFTs than in just the normal art world like holy fuck
