Just finished the color purple.
Touching movie. Made me less racist even on top of Roots, so, super less racist now. I liked how it portrayed blacks less idealistically, the main male character was a piece of shit, still not many positive white characters unfortunately. But let's talk about that score, I couldn't help but be reminded of Jurassic Park at parts, of course it's Spielberg so that's the sound he wants to inspire awe, but I kept seeing connections between this and Jurassic park and it makes me think, does Spielberg see black people and the dinosaurs from Jurassic park as similar? Both are brought into a new world by white men, both are held in cages and disrespected, both are treated like commodities, both have their sexual freedom controlled, and both later reject that control, both break free, and the world has to learn to live with a new status quo in both

I think Spielberg thinks of blacks like this otherworldly exotic thing like dinosaurs
