If the standard is utter perfection, then that will just lead to further trauma because it's totally unreasonable. This is what the respectability allies will do with you. The one-way perfectionism will slowly grind you down until you can't take it any more, then you become a target.
Why should we put up with demands for sanity if it only hurts us?
