One of the things, that I think really pushes Nintendo forward is, that they truly understand how to keep a franchize alive.

Ubisoft execs know, that everyone is begging them for a new splinter cell. Yet, all we got from Sam Fisher in past 10 years were... 2 cameos?

On the other hand, Nintendo put's Mario and Luigi into EVERYTHING. And even, when there was some series quite down (Like Metroid), they did push it HARD when they reviewed it.

@LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter metroid other m was in 2010
then you had a 7 year gap until metroid 2 remake. then another 4 until dread, 2 until mp1 remaster, hopefully mp4 this year. so that's a decent time between mainline games but overall not too shabby.

star fox zero came out in 2016. bone dry ever since. break's metroid's absent spell. 9 years. on top of that, star fox zero was both a rehash of 64 and a

none are as bad as f-zero though. f-zero's last game was in 2004. and no, f-zero 99 does not count.

Unless you're a F-zero or Star Fox fan lol

I am actually quite sad from the way, that the entire racing genre has been dead for at least 10 years now.

And I mean, absolutely dead.

@LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter I wouldn't say entirely dead as Forza is pretty much the big name racing game currently and there's a handful of indie racing games inspired by F-zero and Wipeout but yeah a new NFS or Midnight Club would be cool.

@Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter
No, Forza is barely a game.
Wipeout was such a horribly made game, it didn't even let me change controls. And NFS is barely worth releasing.

I recently went into an oldschool arcade, and it was filled with racking games, and I had insane fun. But the thing, that surprised me was, that I already forgot, just how meaningful is the multiplayer tournament economy. Just the simple loop of "you get money to improve your car after each 2 min race" made the entire dinamic 10 times more enjoyable, then anything I saw in the last 10 years.

@LukeAlmighty @Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter I had so much fun playing Project Gotham Racing 2 online back in the day
@LukeAlmighty @Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter Racing games are all sim-y now so they're not fun. I emulated Gran Turismo 2 on my PC a few months ago and I had a BLAST on my very first race.
@LukeAlmighty @Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter There was one game that came out that really started the "simulation" tend back in the day but I can't think of the name
Anyway that's what killed racing games imo
@monsterislandcolonizer @LukeAlmighty @Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter Only game ever hooked me was Carmageddon TDR2000.
Be playing that all day with boss asking when I'm going to my first service call at noon.
@LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter Ok but I said games inspired BY F-Zero and Wipeout usually improving upon both those games flaws (ballisticNG is pretty good as an example) but yes as far as arcade racers go they're absolutely dead and you're only seeing them in arcades which sucks because there's too many racing games that are just simulators.
>And NFS is barely worth releasing.
Absolutely disagree, Most Wanted was a great game and I believe the series can bring something new to the table thats also plain fun.

@Ace66062 @Mr_NutterButter
Do you mean the 20 or 13 year old Most wanted?

Because, I think that reffering to a 20 year old game does fit the definition of a dead genre perfectly.

@LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter Mostly mean the 2012 one but the 2005 one is also good
@Ace66062 @LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter they've been putting egregious amounts of tranny negro shit in the last few NFS and forza games which has completely killed my interest in them. but that's just western AAA for you.
@LittleTom @LukeAlmighty @Mr_NutterButter that's sad but unsurprising if true (how do you even accomplish this in a fucking racing game) the one I mentioned is also the last NFS game I played
