@matana Are you from USA?
I a, asking, because the "religeous abstinence teaching policy" you're talking about is definitelly not thought here. (and I even went to a religious school at that...)
@matana @Economic_Hitman
Nah, feel free to lash out. It is important to get your point across. Expecially since you have a good reason to talk about the topic.
And I am a libertarian in nature... I won't support baning of almost anything, as long as you let individuals bear consequences of their bad actions...
@matana @Economic_Hitman
It is obvious this one hit a nerve, so I won't push too much.
First: We were talking about rise in improper use of technologies. Everyone knows, you can use a technology in a good way. That much is obvious. The prolem is, that technologies like birth control and anti-depresants is that they do affect you as a person.
My favorite example of this are sacharids. When people started mass producing food, it was obviously good overall, but noone has the ability to see their own internal mechanics well enough, to understand, that increase in sacharids causes insulin spike, that increases hunger and body's will to store food to unnatural levels and will cause obesity over the years..
@aetios
Nice one, but not exactly perfect

@Economic_Hitman @unabomber @matrix @jeffcliff
I'm not too bumbed about it.
On the other hand, I am seriously afraid about effects of anti-depresants and anti-conceptions on society.
While most technologies enhance our options, these two destroyed social rules... and that is a jump I am not sure we even can solve.
@Economic_Hitman @matrix @jeffcliff
I get it.
Face recognition and nukes are two examples we are seriously not ready to handle...
@Economic_Hitman @matrix @jeffcliff
Now, you got me surprised.
I get the point, but still. Most people have no idea how does a car work. Yet they do trust it. Almost noone knows how the calculator works,
At some point, a human brain ends, and we have to make a choice. Either we develop something new, or there will be no way to go further.
I am not even saying, that it has to make all of the decisions for now, but let's be honest. There is no adwisor in the world, that can study and understand terabites of data in life. AI can do it in days. And worse?
Computers got to the stage when they are faster then we are funking 50 years ago. At this point, it's inexcusable to not use these technologies in my opinion.
BTW, have you ever seen some of the cutting edge physics research? No human can understand the whole, and I cannot understand ANY part. Yet, I am willing to trust the results are better then anything I could ever do. Why would AI be different at this?
@Economic_Hitman @matrix @jeffcliff
So... do you agree with me or him though?
(sorry, I don't get your comment, but am interested in your opinion)
