Since the Mixtape had yet again proved my previous thoughts on this topic correct, I ask you once again to celebrate the true spirit of gaming:
Please, share this thread, and reply with a list of games, that excel in the thing that make gaming more special then any other media. Share games with the deepest or most innocavative/emergent gameplay.
Here are games that come to my mind:
X4 foundations:
This game the ultimate universe sandbox. Several empires all run their entire economies in order to lead wars, and in this running universe, you build your own place up from a single insignificant ship, up to an entire empire.
Factorio:
If I had to describe the joy of autism to anyone, Factorio would be the game I would use to ilustrate it. A game, where you have to build up the complex mechanisms from ground up, and where your factory grows up to the capacity of your own brain :D
Roark's Attack on Titan Fan Game:
If you ever wondered, just how entertaining the movement mechanics themselves can get, here is your anwser. After playing this game, no spiderman game will ever feel immersive to you anymore.
And last, just to not be a total hipster... Legent of Zelda Tears of the kingdom:
This might be the first time, I have seen a mainstream game fully embrace the emergent gameplay formula. So, it does deserve a huge resoect even if the game had nothing else to offer. But man, it does have a lot more to offer.
This post is not to brag. It is to acknowledge, that I seriously had no idea how bad things are. An acquaintance just said, he cannot join, because "his paycheck didn't come in yet".
Just... WHAT?
Capitalism is like:
At the bottom of Mariana trench, we found the Ethernal abyss, where hellborn live. They consume souls of mortals, and killing them somehow destabilizes the fabric of reality causing the rifts. But their ballsacks can be used to create a flagrant that lasts 27 hours instead of the 25 hour equivalent that is made of wood, so we hunted them down nearly to the extinction.
Was sitting in a bar today, and I overheard the funniest conversation ever.
A girl was complaining, that when she said to a guy, that she had mental issues, he said that not only does he not mind, but preffer it that way.
So... She got disgusted, that the guy saw her as perfect...
At what point, do you just stop judging everything as nothing but a status game? JUST BE HAPPY ALREADY!!!
Here is what a true artistic vision looks like:
X2 the thread (2003):
> The game starts with cutscene of a human in a spacesuit hacking a docked ship. Then he boards it, tries to excape the station police but is caught.
> In the next cutscene, you are escorted to an office, where you start discuss a proposition with some buisiness man.
These events are only in the cutscene. They are not part of the game itself, since it would be impossible to do in a realistic scope in a cideo game.
X4 foundations (2018):
Hacking ships is a feature
Boarding ships is a feature
Ships and stations walkable interior is a feature
Walking into a representative office to talk to them is a feature.
They literally implemented everything needed for the intro they dreamed of 15 years prior was completely possible. That's not a normal progression. That is a single vision being held across decades, and implemented to perfection.
Why do people hate Skyler White?
Maybe, because she is a manipulator. I am just in Ep.5, and she already organizes a struggle session, where she limits the speech in such a way to not let Walter defend himself, because he doesn't hold a pillow. But, she ignores her own rules mere minutes later as soon, as her sister just mentiones the possibility of disagreeing with her.
Yeah, I am rewatching it, and it's such a great show.
