They never connect the results of the policies ( higher taxes, higher poverty, loss of freedom, high inflation, etc ) with the fact they voted for those policies. So my dad, who became a "hardcore" Christian after marrying his current wife, apparently does not have the slightest clue who Martin Luther is despite being a deacon at his church.

I was going to appeal to his faith and get him to read Martin Luther's book about (((them))) and (((their))) lies since I figured Martin Luther would be a better messenger than an Austrian painter, but he thought I was talking about the nigger.

Protestantism was a mistake.

Normal people say "What do I want out of life?" And then they take steps towards it.

The religious fundie says "It doesn't MATTER what you want in life, sinner!" Thus they stagnate in their own anxiety and depression.

Normal people see this all along. So I guess the question becomes: is there any value AT ALL in being a religious fundie?

Is fearing Hell good for the long run? It's hard for me to argue "No", but some will discredit me because of my roots.

@thor @amerika @feld It's silly to talk about "wrong motivation" to support free speech, you might as well talk about "wrong motivation" to cure cancer. Free speech is an unqualified good, should not even be up for negotiation, and the more people who support it, the better, regardless of their motivations.

Not to mention that there are many things that free speech is urgently needed for beyond just criticizing governments, and yes, race realism and debunking gender ideology are very much areas that prove how valuable free speech is today.

I consider something like encouraging children to think of themselves as transsexual to be infinitely worse than any kind of lewd drawing - but I don't want gender ideology made illegal, I just want to be able to freely criticize it, and parents to be made aware if their schools are pushing that shit.
