Nuclear fission plants should be placed in areas where we have very little or no human presence. We should have plenty of those.

So long as you actually maintain power plants, they tend to serve well presuming they are decently designed.

Unfortunately, I don't trust the government to manage anything more complicated than seating arrangements, much less doing anything of any kind in a timely manner.
