GG's problem was the same with most grassroots movements, they look for upcummies from the authority they're fighting and rally around them, even if they're leading the movement to uselessness and its own demise. Tea Party was like that, Occupy was like that, Trumpism is like that, the alt-right was like that. Every attempt to create their own went poorly or was compromised.
