@matrix Sometimes I appreciate when the translator leaves in some of the weeb for us. Lately I've found a lot of anime missing their -chan or -san in the subs, and it's annoying me to no end.
@alyx I'm annoyed too when they are missing, but -chan and -san aren't just weeb memes, they are honorifics that don't have an alternative in the English language.
@alyx@matrix Vanitas no Karte had fucking "monsieur" for -sama. In the official sub. Then when one character really did say "monsieur" in the final episodes, they simply left it untrunslated. I'm watching anime, not a french cartoon, use anime slang and don't assume otaku will know or care about french.
And all the translator notes legit helped me learn a good bit of japanese. In my translations, I tend to do one tl per episode just because it's cool and doesn't hurt anybody to know a little more. Translating "onii-chan" is very cringe
@matrix@alyx Step-family is incest for the cowards. It's so idiotic to try and defend your taste as "well, it's not acktualhy incest". They're aking to ironic lolicons
