The Callisto Protocol, a single player game, has rules of conduct... and it's bad.
How has this escaped my notice for so long?!

This goes into the "I'm not even gonna pirate this" category for me.

If you can grow biomass as fast as you use it, you technically reabsorb the CO2 from burning it. So you'd get the net zero. But that ignores the energy costs of processing, transporting, etc.

@lottev @thor
Remember when we went away from using paper because we needed to stop chopping down trees?.... And now we're going back to using paper because plastic pollutes...

It's become such a mess...

@lottev @thor
Yeah... we really need to start up nuclear again. I've heard we're starting to run out of some specific rare elements that can only be produced in nuclear reactors.

@thor
For example, hydroelectric power has proven to be able to reliably produce consistent power. You can have a country mostly depend on hydroelectric, and have 10-20% solar energy as a bonus during the day.

@thor
Solar panels have their place. They're great for someone living a modest life, on a self sufficient farm, off the grid, things like that.

You just can't expect to depend on them to power a big, industrial focused country. They work better as an useful addition, to an alternative consistent power source, to lower electricity costs during the day.

>EU made Apple use USB-C
After at least a decade of debating an unitary charging plug standard, they finally made a good decision.

Meanwhile, the free market managed to get every other phone company to adopt micro-usb as a standard, and then change to USB-C, by the time EU got tired of wasting time.

The public sector isn't useless, but the very high level public sector has proven itself to be much too inefficient to arbiter these small things.

Don't know who those people are, but I'm legitimately curious what got them banned.

@thor
TBH, if we assume a realistic context, the "fuck you" would have followed the Nazi saying something fucked up too. I'd end up banning both.

@kallisti
Baby eating is more of a hobby to me. The real focal point of my existence is my disbelief in gods, and making sure you know that I think your religious book is silly.

@matrix @beardalaxy
That's a weird interpretation... I don't see how saying "I don't care if you die" equates to "you deserve to die".

You may very well not deserve to die, but if I have no emotional investment in your well being, or maybe I even don't like you very much, I simply won't care.

Children in Africa don't deserve to die of starvation and AIDS, and yet most of America, Europe and Asia, simply don't care.

@LukeAlmighty
The "I procrastinated" bit was glorious.
The rest of it is kinda reaching.

I hear people pronounce "ko-fi" as "coffee", but I can't help but pronounce the "fi" like in "wi-fi" or "hi-fi".

@PinochetsCommieCopter
Could Nigerian end up becoming the safest place to raise children in?

Idea for trolls and shitposters:
replace "kill yourself" in your posts with "use the final solution of Canadian healthcare".

You know what... if you can't even "fix" adult trans people effectively and efficiently, to where they don't kill themselves more than people who were held and tortured in concentration camps, you have no place experimenting with your "fixes" on children.

There is no negotiating on this. There is no compromise to be made. Perfect your treatment on adults, and maybe then we can reopen this discussion.

Every time I end up in a debate with someone defending any form of gender conversion therapy for children, I end up having less and less sympathy for transgender people overall.

If you want to regain the sympathy of the average person, you really need to pick your advocates better, and to clean your own house.
