@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter if someone is against recreational use i'm not really gonna' hold that against them.
but i think it is a bit hypocritical to not want marijuana being used while also being totally fine with alcohol/tobacco being out there totally legal for 21+. way worse for you than weed.
when it comes to medicinal use though, i think it's a no-brainer and like i said, the literal doctors and pharmacists i know that study this kind of thing all agree it helps a lot of people that way and is much safer than actual prescriptions. if the alternative is there and it works it should be taken, and stuff like "anti-depressant" meds should only be used as a last resort.
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter >not the topic at hand
dude you're responding to my post, you don't get to decide what the topic at hand is. i'm saying it's much better to use than anything else and even if it does come with its issues i'd rather use medicinal marijuana than any of the shit they put me through during high school with my epilepsy. god dammit none of this talk technically follows the topic at hand which was just that my landlord is retarded xD
>selection bias
what, like the majority of doctors that agree? xD i mean we really shouldn't be pointing fingers toward doctors in general regardless though, considering how many said covid vaccines were totally safe. the difference here is that there was fuck all studies behind those and the docs were still recommending them and saying they were totally safe and would protect you against covid19 and the variants, whereas with medicinal marijuana there have been a LOT of studies done and some doctors would still rather prescribe three different anti-depressants that literally have "suicidal thoughts" as a side effect 🤡
@beardalaxy @fluffy @Mr_NutterButter Anyone who is anti drug better be anti sugar, or they're hypocrites. Sugar kills the fuck out of people, it feeds cancer cells.
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy So weed is bad because it makes you dumb, lazy, paranoid, etc, is it still a humans right to use it Fluffy, just like it's their right to cut off their hand, or should they be barred from use? And don't say they should be barred because they'll do stupid things, or it'll increase the likelihood of them doing stupid things, or they'll be a drain on society or some shit, in a free society we accept that a person is allowed to choose to cripple themselves if they want, regardless of how much of a drain they will become, this is the consequence of a free society. So are you pro freedom, or anti freedom? You can be anti weed and still respect a persons right to use such "poison".
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy I'd fuck both
@fluffy @Jazzy_Butts @Mr_NutterButter WEED KILLS BRAIN CELLS AND LOWERS YOUR IQ!!!! WE SHOULD BAN PROPAGANDA THAT SAYS WEED IS GOOD!!
*posts picture glorifying people who drink alcohol that literally does those things if you partake in it of the same amount but also includes dying if you do too much of it in one sitting*
alcohol is worse than weed and that's not even up for debate. alcohol is only still legal because if it wasn't, the majority of the nation would still do it anyway but underground and way less safe and we'd have prohibition 2 which would also give us CIA 2 if we don't already have it. this is also why guns probably haven't been banned wholesale yet either. but weed has been outlawed in the US for a looong time over what was originally just sensationalized racism.
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy Are you only pretending to be retarded? Is that what this is?
@fluffy @Jazzy_Butts @Mr_NutterButter is it so hard to realize that the same propaganda machine that would get parents to circumcise their boys to get them to stop masturbating could also get people to hate weed because mexican immigrants brought it with them into the states? ![]()
@beardalaxy @fluffy @Mr_NutterButter Sad true
@Jazzy_Butts @fluffy @Mr_NutterButter this isn't what the founding fathers would have wanted
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter " the main use of medical marijuana is recreational"
yeah... sure.........
recreational marijuana is the stuff that you wanna go for if you're actually looking to get high. actual medicinal marijuana (rather than people self-medicating with whatever they've got) is typically lower in THC or may not even contain it at all in the case of things like CBD supplements. for someone that's all "420 weed blaze it bro" they are going to find that medicinal marijuana doesn't really cut it for them. the point of medicinal marijuana isn't to make you high, it's to treat your problems. if you get a little bit floaty in the process, maybe it's an added benefit, maybe it's something someone who is taking it won't like. with my epilepsy meds, i'd lose a shit ton of weight (which was bad being underweight as it was), have severe depressive episodes, or just flat out have more seizures. it actually took me three years for me to feel somewhat normal after i stopped taking them. i would have switched to medicinal marijuana in a heartbeat if i could have back then... which directly disproves your other point below too:
"there is no merit to the use of weed in the place of other medical substances, a belief that is, as you have noticed, shared by most doctors."
idk what study you were reading or what you think i saw/said but it literally says most of them think patients should be able to have access to it, with the researcher even saying that some don't recommend it just because they think they'd get their license revoked.
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter if there is that kind of weed being sold more frequently, then i don't condone it. but it's like you're not even reading your own links that you're sending me and are just googling things and looking at the headlines.
the problem here is that what is being sold as medicinal marijuana actually shouldn't be branded as such. it's just recreational marijuana with a different package. it's not even what doctors are recommending and the vast majority of people who are using it don't even realize that.
CBD oil, at least in utah, can only contain 0.5% THC until it actually becomes illegal. i use it and you literally feel zero high from it. it just makes me capable of thinking for longer periods of time without blanking out (though it doesn't get rid of it entirely and sometimes i don't like taking it because time feels like it drags on since i'm used to blanking out for extended periods of time).
also, it bothers me when news sites don't link to the actual study but just who did the study, because i can't look at the actual study, only the news website talking about it.
i think i managed to find it though: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0230167#sec008
regardless, my point stands that the people who are seeking out medicinal marijuana aren't really potheads, they're using it over using something that doesn't work as well for them. the unfortunate part is that they are not receiving the right amount of THC that they should be. the failure point is the retail, not the patients, and certainly not actual medicinal marijuana itself.
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy THC has positive benefits on mood so it's a pointless argument. Overuse is a fair criticism, but again, let freedom ring. If someone wants to smoke an ounce a week, and they can afford it, good for them. It's none of my business unless it becomes my business, like if they start trying to jam lit joints in my eyes. Even if he's so stoned that he crashes his car into my livingroom, I'm not mad that he's high, I'm mad that his car impacted my house. His car could have impacted if he wasn't stoned either. It does not factor into my thinking thusly, all I am concerned with is the destabilization of my life, not the factors leading up to it, since those factors are none of my business since pothead car crasher is a free man in a free society.
@neet @beardalaxy @fluffy @Mr_NutterButter I agree private organizations with non compulsatory membership have that right
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy the argument that high thc invalidates claims of medicinal use is invalidated by the fact that THC has positive effects on mood
@fluffy @Mr_NutterButter also this shit in these memes are more like recreational use and heavy use of it at that, not actual medicinal marijuana but people who "self medicate" with shit they buy from jorge at the 7/11 downtown that may or may not be laced so they keep coming back to him because it's "good shit."
some of this is super strawman too, no weed smoker out there is saying they are literally steve jobs because they smoke weed, get real. there probably aren't very many that think there are absolutely zero negative health effects either.
