In the wake of the Godot situation, I am here to recommend alternatives. Not all of these are engines. Some of them are frameworks, but all of these are FOSS and general purpose.

2D:
* SDL - libsdl.org/
* SFML - sfml-dev.org/
* Allegro - liballeg.org/
* Gosu - libgosu.org/
* Love2D - love2d.org/
* Pygame- pygame.org/
* FreeBASIC - freebasic.net/
* raylib - raylib.com/

3D:
* Irrlicht Engine - irrlicht.sourceforge.io/
* OGRE - ogre3d.org/
* ioquake3 - ioquake3.org/
* Panda3D - panda3d.org/

Both:
* MonoGame - monogame.net
* GDevelop - gdevelop.io/
* jMonkeyEngine - jmonkeyengine.org/
* Lightweight Java Game Library - lwjgl.org/

@xianc78 there is no "Godot situation" the person who runs their official Twitter account is just stupid. There's nothing wrong with the engine.

@xianc78 like they blocked a contributor? okay that sucks then. i still don't think there is anything wrong with using the engine but yeah there's zero reason to actually contribute if they're just blocking people.

@xianc78 unless said people are actually like flaming or something and haven't actually contributed before, because that could totally be the case too. i wouldn't want people shitting up my github repo either.

idk what's going on 100% though, i just think people are retarded and as long as the engine is free and open source using it isn't an issue.

@beardalaxy Either way, I also want to promote the little guys.

@beardalaxy @xianc78 There’s gonna have to be a bigger fuckup than that to convince me to stop using a completely free engine and switch to Troonity or NINTENDO HIRE THIS MAN Engine
