Bought inZOI and played it for about 3 hours. 99% of that time was spent making one character. You can really go pretty in-depth with it. It does need a LOT more clothing options but given that it is early access, I think those will come over time. They have said that all content updates during early access will be completely free, so we'll have to see what gets added.
I popped into gameplay for a tiny bit and it seems VERY much like the Sims but with a few extra things. You can control your selected character directly with WASD for instance, and you can play around with the overall "vibe" of the town with sliders that affect things like crime, relationships, health, and more.
I was watching someone's stream of it and from what I can tell, it does appear that at least currently, the only way you're able to have a child is if you're married. NPCs have established sexual preferences, and you can't enter bathrooms that are for the opposite gender.
I'm going to keep playing it later, I'll let you guys know how it goes!

@icedquinn my hope is that mods really blow the lid off any restrictions, because the base game is a really solid foundation and it seems to perform pretty well too.

@icedquinn I saw someone saying that they were crypto scamming as their job in it lol, don't know how true that is but still funny

@beardalaxy @icedquinn I wonder if it could be moddable enough along with having online play so that two people would essentially be playing two different games while being connected to one server.
That's one of Sim's creator, Will Wright's ideas when creating the original Sims, back when it was still called Dollhouse. One person could be playing a restaurant simulator, commanding workers in an RTS-style gameplay while another person could be playing a DOOM-like FPS and try to rob the store, all on the same map.

@icedquinn part of the fun for me is micromanaging sims lol, but i definitely won't be using wasd. there's the weird facial and motion capture stuff too that i can only assume means, in combination with stuff like wasd movement, the idea is to get it to an online multiplayer kind of thing eventually where you can do something like GTA V RP servers. idk if that's actually the goal or not but that's kind of the vibe i'm getting.

@icedquinn yeah I don't have an iPhone but it seems like that feature is literally just motion tracking which is cool but serves ZERO gameplay purpose, which leads me to believe it's only there for content creation (which is still cool) or they have much bigger ambitions.

@icedquinn also I have an Nvidia card but I don't have smartzoi available idk what's up with that
@Jens_Rasmussen I watched some other reviews and stuff too, there are babies. I don't THINK there are toddlers, but there are kids.
Sims 4 got much more annoying recently when they added infants too so I'd rather have this than that lmao.
on the other hand, the game has seasons by default which neither sims 3 or 4 had. you had to pay to get seasons in your game lol.
@Jens_Rasmussen even if you're not paying for it, everyone still had to wait to get something as basic as seasons in both of those games and when sims 4 launched it didn't even have pools for a while lol.
@Jens_Rasmussen yeah it definitely plays better and that actually really contributed to me preferring it more. But there's no open world, characters have less traits, and there is less customization available in pretty much every aspect. You can even make entire towns from scratch in 3. If sims 3 performed like 4 does I'd heavily prefer it
@beardalaxy interesting I saw the game and was thinking that this was going to be a Sims killer because it fulfills a large majority of what girls and people who play those types of games like but I think they could go a lot deeper and allow for a lot more customization especially for these types of people because they like to micromanage everything.
But if modding is really easy I could see this game blowing up.
Please keep us updated if you find any more interesting stuff or gameplay related opinions.
@Mr_NutterButter personally, I am still looking forward to paralives more since it seems like the sims but better, whereas inzoi is its own thing just in the same genre. I'll definitely keep posting about this though.
