using X as a replacement of Christ for Christmas, are we?

rivals of aether 2 counts for 21% across the playtest, the demo, and the full release. they're all treated separately though.

the "real" fourth place game would be the system shock remake at 4%.

this also doesn't include sh2 remake because, well, i don't have it on steam.

Smol Silent Hill 2 Remake Review (7/10)

Well, I'm already forgetting that Silent Hill 2 Remake even existed so that massive review is just not going to happen. If you want more granular/ranty thoughts you can look at my live reaction feed for it: gameliberty.club/@beardalaxy/1

7/10 game, maybe and 8 if you haven't played the original. It is less of a remake and more of a remix, to the point where it is hard to call it a remake in the first place often times. It focuses much more on being scary than it does the moody atmosphere of the original, and that is to its detriment. It's far easier to make a scary game than whatever the hell the original Silent Hill 2 is. I'd really only recommend it to people who tried the original and just couldn't vibe with it in some way, but still want to experience the story for themselves. The story is mostly intact, told pretty much the same exact way, but there is a LOT of filler and it doesn't really have the same impact. The voice acting, and to a lesser extent but still a potent one, the music, also tend to be the cause of this lack of impact.

There are some technical issues too that did unfortunately take away from the experience. In addition, some gameplay elements really went way more into the Resident Evil 2 Remake kind of zone instead of being more true to the original Silent Hill games, probably due to Konami wanting to chase some trends. I actually think if Bloober was only given strict mandates on the story, they would have made a much more faithful recreation of the original game, although it's a definite fact that the game would not have sold nearly as well as it did.

The changes are almost all worse than the original, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily a bad game. It's fine, honestly. It was better than I expected to be. It's just not anywhere close to the amazing experience that the original is, as long as you're not a fucking normie.
