@Xeraser @WashedOutGundamPilot i think most guys who play male characters are either afraid of being made fun of for playing a female character, or they're just looking to self-insert. that's why baldur's gate 3 has a vast majority of players playing a white human male.

i did that for a long time too, just made myself in every game, but when i played PSO2 i was trying to get my preferred stats, back when gender/race mattered for stats, so playing a cyborg female was the way to go. after that i opened up to not playing myself in games anymore, especially because most games have really shitty options when it comes to beards.

actually though, i really don't read. i bought house of leaves like a year ago and haven't gotten even 1/4 the way through. the last book i read in full was mockingjay from hunger games, right when it came out.

i remember hunger games being a really good book, i actually read the whole thing in two days and stayed up on school nights. i got super addicted to it.

i think my favorite book, although it's kind of silly, is "guess how much i love you." it's a children's book where a kid bunny and a dad bunny saying how much they love each other. very simple but very sweet, my mom used to read it to me a lot as a kid so it has some good memories attached to it. when i have kids this'll be the first book i read to them.

@WashedOutGundamPilot the way i see it is that i create a character. it's no different from creating a character for a story that you're writing and then really liking that character. i have plenty of male and female characters i've written that i really like that i feel are kind of cool extensions of me. but they aren't me, they are characters that i created that carry a little bit of my personality, given that i made them.

some people just have difficulty separating reality from fiction or fantasy.
