@SuperSnekFriend @sun yeah new car every five years is fucking ridiculous lol.

Also who the fuck is spending 38k on their wedding? Are they saying like, if you have two daughters and have to pay for their entire weddings you'll be paying that much? Weddings aren't THAT expensive. You can get a wedding done for under $10k easy.

Also I do not think that taking yearly vacations that cost a lot of money is part of the American dream. Not every single vacation has to be going to fucking Disneyland. A lot of our family vacations were things like driving to a different state to go see family for a while, or going to a national park, or even just renting a hotel room for a couple nights and chilling out. Even when we went to Vegas it was like, pretty cheap relative to whatever the fuck this is. For a family of 6, mind you.

Paying for a house isn't that much money either, tbh. Even around here where it is pretty expensive, something like a 4 bedroom is like $600k. There are places in the US that are half that cost. Unless they are adding like, maintenance costs in there I guess? But a good amount of that shit you can just do yourself anyway.

This kind of smells of propaganda to me.

@MisterLister @tyler I know this is over a week late but you can play og silent hill 2 on win 10 with the enhanced edition mod. That's the definitive way to play the game. Just grab the pc release from myabandonware and then use EE to mod it, it's pretty easy.

Otherwise play it on pcsx2 and make sure you use the fix on the compatibility wiki + play at 4:3.

Sh4 is the black horse of the original games. Half the fan base likes it and the other half doesn't. I hope that you don't discount silent hill entirely if it ends up being the latter. I haven't played it personally because a lot of the gameplay elements kind of turn me off.

I'm actually liking the game a lot so far. I'll admit that it is waaaay less "soulslike" than I thought it would be. That was an overreaction. I still don't think it is really deserving of the title Silent Hill though. It really is its own thing. A survival horror game with a bit more action but not quite to Resident Evil levels. It's got some more unique things going for it too, like a system where you can trade your healing items for points to get upgrades.

@pettanko well yeah, but I also just think it looks neater instead of a shit ton of posts lol.

Silent Hill f play session #1.5 (spoilers)

Okay so I'm going to just write my thoughts down as they happen here and post when I'm done playing.

The fog seems to get messed up when you move the camera. That probably means it is tied to the camera instead of the game world, which is a little unfortunate. It goes back to its original shape when you stop moving but it is awfully distracting.

OH! You get a little ceremonial dagger that doesn't break but doesn't do much damage. That's at least something. Although... Apparently you can only use it in the "otherworld." The otherworld is kind of interesting, but it's definitely not like the the other SH otherworlds where it is the same exact place you're in but twisted. It's another realm entirely.

The puzzles are pretty interesting so far. I like the item examining system, it's pretty dynamic and actually has a lot of use unlike some games where it's just more for flavor.

The notes are pretty interesting as well, they give a lot of important context to what is going on and allude to more.

There seem to be some lighting bugs where some light sources only spawn in when they are extremely close to the camera. I'm playing at high-very high settings so it's not related to that I don't think. They seem to be static, specifically placed lights.

Had a bit of a stupid encounter with an enemy in a ridiculously tight hallway. They were lying on the floor, obviously alive but not moving, but I couldn't attack. Then they disappeared once I left the room. Then I did something in the next room over and of course then they spawned in that same room. Seemed kind of cheap to just spawn an enemy in that kind of way. At least have it crawl through the window or something.

Speaking of the enemies, they are no slouch BTW. They will follow you to the ends of the earth as long as they can still see/hear you. They will jump up to higher ledges and everything. It does make them feel more dynamic.

@LordMordred @King_Noticer @Wormwood can't be as bad as blops 3's story lol. The multiplayer for that game was dope though.

@King_Noticer @Wormwood wasn't ghosts the one with the top down shooter mini game though? That was fun as fuck.

Oh shit. I just realized I'm doing this in the wrong way. When I played SH2 Remake last year I just made one long post that I kept updating throughout my play session. That's a much better option. My b.

I'm liking it well enough so far, actually. Just barely got into combat and it is definitely way too involved for a Silent Hill game. Also found a toolkit so yeah... Your weapons can degrade. I hate that shit in games. The only time I've ever been okay with it is in the latest Zeldas because there are weapons littered all over the place.

I am liking the sound design and the art, though. There is a shrine system which is kind of cool too. Just, again... It only casually resembles Silent Hill. Just about as much as any other survival horror game would. At least as of right now.

WHY WON'T SHE STOP HEAVILY BREATHING? Bro WALKING does not require that much. Running makes her breathe even heavier but it's really funny because the breathing isn't based on her speed so you can toggle run, very slowly move the joystick, and she'll be like, panting while moving in slow motion xD

You can kind of tell that the character isn't on the world... Like, their walking animation is going at a slightly different rate than their movement. It's extremely subtle but it's enough to where I noticed it. If you walk in a specific way you can even get her legs to clip through each other lol.

You can't turn on vsync in borderless full-screen mode... How do so many of these AAA studios keep putting out games with the worst possible graphics settings known to man?

The music so far is really good though, it is very traditional Japanese but still has the classic Silent Hill flair to it.

Intro cutscene now, holy shit the game is using async shader compilation and didn't load in my character's arms for a solid 5 seconds lmao.

The English subtitles are definitely dubtitles too, unfortunately. I'm going to have to just deal with it because I can't read Japanese (yet) but I know enough to understand that the English ones are definitely are incorrect.

The game already starts off by pissing me off. You can't change the resolution unless you're in widowed mode, and the scaling is only 25/50/75 percent, so I guess I'm stuck playing at 1620p instead of 1440p.

The game also appears to only have two difficulty modes. Story and Hard for combat. For puzzles, it also has "lost in the fog" which is apparently harder than hard, but there is no medium I guess? Seriously just make it "easy, medium, hard" it's weird.
