I just spent 30 minutes looking for a cursed MLP meme. How was your Saturday night?

I still think chat gpt is an invaluable tool for a ttrpg GM. It's kind of like those daily writing prompts, but specifically tailored for what is going on in your campaign. Nothing it gives you can be used wholesale, but it does really spark creativity.

For instance, today my players will be going to the last rebellion city in a nation that has been in civil war for the past 20 years. All these different NPCs were telling them not to go there because it could be utter chaos after their previous leader committed treason. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going to happen in that city though when they actually decided to go there. So I just asked chat gpt. It gave me a whole slew of stuff I didn't particularly care about, but one little thing about a propaganda flyer going around about the party, who had worked with the traitor in a different nation previously, sent me down a massive well of inspiration. Now there is an entire boss battle there where they can either fight the new leader who feels extremely betrayed, or they can join him and the rebels for one final push to the capital. Like, none of that came from chatgpt, it only mentioned there being a flyer. Like I said, writing prompts. Brilliant.

Of course, I still write most of everything myself. I've got a really big world. It's really helpful every now and then though. Especially for on-the-spot stuff. You would normally use some sort of generator, or before those existed a roll table, but those are at exponentially lesser degrees of depth and often give results that make a lot less sense.

not all AI usage is bad and it can be really useful as a supplementary tool which can replace other such tools that are far more rudimentary. I can see it being really beneficial as an artist for pose references. I've been inspired by AI art to write things and make music based on what it spits out. Using it as a tool to bolster human creativity is great, but not to replace it. If that makes sense.

okay i don't give a shit about the switch 2 camera but this is a pretty cool design haha
